The door closed softly behind Hunter and he looked around the room. Although the lights were on giving the room a slightly different look nothing had changed including the amount of people in the room. Although he could hear light footsteps and voices chattering the room he was currently in was empty. Now all Hunter could hope was that the way to the armor was going to be empty as well and there wouldn't be any troubles. They had a long night ahead of them and it would be easiest if it started off without any problems. On the way to the museum they had had a few close calls and Hunter didn't need to sound the alarm until the time was right.
Looking around to make sure there were no stormtroopers Hunter started making his way towards where the suits of armor had been. It took longer than he would have liked, as sometimes he had to hide to avoid being spotted, but eventually he reached his destination without incident. The first thing he noticed was how different the armor looked in the light. It was so familiar and all he could think of was order 66 and the empire. The armor no longer took him back to a time when they were just starting off and would get teased. It now took him to a time when his life was constantly in danger for not following orders.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Hunter climbed up onto the stand before removing the coming soon sign and hiding it behind one of the suits of armor beside him. He then straightened and stood as still as he could. Now all he had to do was wait here until they turned off the lights and he heard Tech and Wrecker sound the alarm. Hopefully the patrolling troopers wouldn't pay any mind to him as they had the previous night when he had hidden here.
Hunter quickly lost track of time but it wasn't long before a voice rang over the intercoms telling everyone that the museum closed shortly and they needed to head for the entrance to leave. It was even shorter after that before the lights dimmed and eventually shut off all except for the emergency lights. The museum was now as quiet and calm as it had been the night before and Hunter quieted his breathing to prevent himself from disrupting the silence. How long had they decided Wrecker and Tech were going to wait before sounding the alarm. Half an hour? Or was it a full hour? Hunter scowled under his helmet furious at himself for forgetting such a critical detail of the mission.
After what felt like forever he heard footsteps against the marble floor and chattering. He didn't dare turn his head out of fear of being caught but it wasn't long before the light from a flashlight filled the hallway. He then watched as two troopers walked past him talking too quietly for him to hear until they were right in front of him. "I just can't shake the feeling that something is off," the trooper closest to him was saying. Hunter noted that he sounded different than any of the ones he had heard patrolling here the day before.
"Maybe it's that?" The other trooper said, coming to a stop in front of Hunter and pointing at him.
The first trooper stopped and gazed up at Hunter. "They finally put this armor out. I was curious about when they were going to. How come this one is so different from the rest?"
The second trooper shrugged his shoulders. "Beats me, it's probably a special group of clones or something. I don't see why you care though, they're old relics of the clone war. Besides, clones are inferior to us." Hunter had to fight to stop himself from cringing at the words. They sounded just like what Crosshair had said to him on Kamino all those months ago.
"Well sure," the first trooper said, looking at his friend, "but I find the clone war fascinating. Besides, I was never on the side of the republic. I was with the separatists, all we had was battle droids."
The other trooper scoffed. "Battle droids, clones, they're all the same. They both served the same purpose. Personally I don't see how clones are any better than droids."
