Chapter 15 / XV : Encounter
Visinia Outskirts
February 14, 09h15Vision was a haze, a blur masking a pair from what appeared as the truth. Moments after their car got ravaged by a violent strike of heaven's energies, their ears cried to the intensity. Though they persisted, not allowing slight diversions take them away from what they deemed as freedom. Of course, they recovered. A swift and elegant rise of the head ensued, Kieran — the first to be revived.
"Sky!" He bellowed out like thunder, "We need to move!" Delivering a swift srike to his left cheek, Kieran awoke the eldest of them and they instantly slipped out of the car. To their right was a span of meadows, where to their left approached two of those clad in black, now leaving the cottage. It was either hunt or be hunted, and they surely were not going for the latter. Digging through his pocket, rummaging for a single of the three baseballs went with ease and he threw one them with all the force possible, a grunt signalling slight pain. It howled, ripping through and deflecting the pebbles of water violently tapping the earth.
Crash! It hit, breaking apart the gas mask the man wore. Though it did not fall off. Skyler's body, arms particularly, had vastly improved after his denial of the first team football squad at school. He aimed at improving his body, and he was enroute to achieving exactly that until cataclysm struck, taking everything away. "Kieran! We need to capture the other guy! Being their prey won't do us any good!" Kieran understood the job at hand and instantly shot out one of his own baseballs. Like the former, its target was achieved, though only slightly as the man ducked to his right — the ball grazing his mask and earning a lick at Kieran's throwing strength. Not so strong.
During such a maneuver, Kieran and his brother ran straight for him, the rain doing them a favour by subtly erasing their presence from the other. His mask was a derailing factor as the rain ceaselessly showered the glass, limiting his vision. Within mere moments, both lads struck the other's mid section with their bats & speared him onto the street. A partial success in capturing. Seemingly, the other guy was knocked out by Skyler's ball. Laying a strong knock to his tummy, the eldest absorbed whatever air he had in his being and knocked him unconscious. They both hissed out sighs of relief.

08h00"I take it the baby isn't yours?" Feminine vocals left a woman's lips. "N-no, I found him crying. His-his mother had been eaten by a zombie moments before I arrived." The other replied to the inquiry. Araele interrogated the now clean Janice, with her adopted child within her grasp. Dark skin, akin to that of Wyvern & Skyler presented itself with clearness. She did not seem half-zombie in the slightest way. "I see. Did you receive that scratch to your eye through the zombie, then?" Janice dragged the bundle of hair blocking out her injured eye, showing the red X mark on the iris and the eyeball as a whole. "I believe this mark appears only after the half infection takes place. An indicator of its success, p-perhaps? I-I only got a blob of its saliva on my scar here." She displayed her neck, a scar running down her neck towards her chest. "Then all of a sudden, my-my eye transitioned to this." She ended, gesturing towards her eye. Her hair dropped once more, blocking out the horror. Araele sunk into the sofa, magenta locks of hair easing into it as well. Dirty. "I see."
"Well then, I'll be taking a shower soon." Araele stood. "Need you anything from the house? Water? Food? I have everything you may need in the kitchen." She paused, "Though nothing for the baby..." She'd never had a husband, let alone a child. Her life was lonely until a certain man made an appearance. It was only natural that she had no supplies for infants. "Ah, I'll make a plan. You go shower now." Araele gave her final glance through her violet pair before heading towards the bathroom door. Something about her questioning irked Janice. She felt distrust from the elder. Could she blame her, though? The door greeted Janice farewell with a thud.

09h20The streets were no longer a safe haven, the car was their safest bet. Paint job looked to peel off and rust began to show. Lightning was a natural enemy to humans, and cars were their saving grace. Even though attacked by a blue, violent bolt, it was still in good shape to live in. It's functions however, had all died. "Let's take them to the car. We'll plan out whatever move we might come up with from there." Kieran said, pulling on the broken masked guy with all his might. He seemed lighter, and the deduction was spot on. Sky carried the heavier-looking guy and they successfully reached the car. They tucked the other two into the boot whilst they continued to the inside.
"Infiltrate. We infiltrate and gather as much information as possible on the place." Skyler begun laying whatever he had planned on a silver platter. "As to how..." Kieran looked at his brother, their gazes meeting in suspense. Skyler's amber own seemed to read what his brother's cerulean had to say. "Exactly. Their attire. I should equip the taller guy's clothing and infiltrate. They won't suspect me, I hope." Sky was cautiously formulating the scenario in his mind. "I believe that Wy isn't dead. I suspect that the hole we saw must have a an explanation. I heard no thud." Sky exclaimed. "Same." Kieran continued. They both heard no collision between body and floor. Not to mention the second guy to fall in. Wyvern was most likely still alive. As to how long was questionable. "Aight then, I'll get moving. Be sure not to release the dudes from the boot." Kieran sighs, "Bro, I'm not dumb."

After undressing the guys in the back, the two learnt a very key discovery about their attire. Most notably the mask. A taser was available alongside a pocket knife. "I see. This mask filters used air and throws it into the attire to warm up the body. This is next level." Sky deduced, correctly at that. The attire was designed to never let carbon dioxide escape their bodies. As to why was still a mystery, which was the sole reason Skyler assumed it to be body heat management. "This guy's breath stank... The air his suit let out after retrieving it... there must be a certain time when they are set to release everything so as to start the whole process all over again. It explains why it was slightly bloated." He rambled on, Kieran only catching some points to aid in his perplexed state. "Yes, nigga. Now get going before filling the suit up."
"Yeah yeah, you look good in it. The mask is fucked up, it's a pity we can't go in together." Skyler looked towards his brother who wore the same attire. The mask however saw no life. Deceased, like the deceased littered all over the city. Though he got to keep its supplies.
“Alright then, catch you later, Kie.” He said, closing the door behind him. The rain poured without rest and continued forever. It was as if it bore a dictator, ordering it to shower without rest.
