Dead Souls Alive

Chapter Eight: Planning Ahead
Arc 01: Ties by blood or not are still ties.

"Evan's here. Our research should continue without any jitters and turns." Skyler spoke, sitting on one end of a table within a separate a separate room. It had suddenly went dark outside, night was beginning to latch. The rain never stopped, mother nature truly sought to cleanse her skin. Cold it was with a touch of ghostly winds. Luckily, winter was not until June. "Yeah. Now tell us your plan, Sky." Wyvern followed, sitting on another end of the table with his elbows above the wooden construct. Kieran watched, Evangeline with her pair of glasses too.

"It's like this. For a zombie to suddenly awaken, there has to be a trigger, yes? If, then Wyvern's assessment which suggests that it was the dead's agitation ain't it." Skyler's starting point fell onto the table. "Ayo I was kidding then." Wyvern objected. "Fine. This is the work of a man. I'm also clueless as fuck right now so my assessment might be filled with jitters." Skyler was clustered with thoughts. Once, they actually thought the two zombies they saw at the cemetery was a duo of deities. Now, they were not going to settle with just one assumption, just for insurance. "Hm. Well, yes. It could also be a virus which awakened the dead. How the virus entered the ground, I have no idea. This is most likely the work of a man, as Sky said." Evangeline supported Skyler's assumption. "My plan is to assess where the dead are gathered around most. Zombies are attracted to heat. We'll watch from where we are and assess where these zombies are mostly at. Everyone around the city is most likely turned into a zombie. Our school is most likely the only building holding survivors, and of course a few residents who live in skyscrapers." Skyler made his clearly-desperate plan audible. They neither had the necessary knowledge nor equipment to miraculously find their enemy. The best they could do was work on the little information they had to move forward. "Yeah. Research says that zombies can sense heat. That's why there's a whole fucking bunch of them surrounding the school. They wanna eat us all up." Wyvern added to the equation as he slouched into his seat.

"Our way forward is one: gather information, pinpoint the enemy's location and find a way to kill him. Weaponry, armour, our world has advanced. There now exists shooting ranges. Safety was a necessity ever since the new president took over. As such, he encouraged people to have guns on them as a way to protect themselves against evildoers." Skyler laid out his plan to get weaponry. "We'll visit the shooting range just four blocks away from here and gather the necessary tools and weaponry we'll need." He uttered. His circumspect personality had taken over. He was one man who thought things through and had others follow behind him. His way with words was so good, no one had ever went against him. "Should we encounter anyone during our search, we take them in." Wyvern simultaneously rattled the table with his right fist, reinforcing the fact that he opposed Skyler's thought for that brief moment. "We don't know who the enemy is working with. The man might even have colleagues he can use to infiltrate and quite possibly spread the virus from the very core of survivors, which in this case is us. Taking in random strangers can't be a logical thing to do regarding our situation and the fact that we might have an enemy out there." Kieran gave off a nod, signalling his agreement. "Yeah. We don't know who this man is, heck we don't even know if there is a man to start with." Kieran added.

“The problem here is that we're leaning on one side of the possibilities. We don't know if that very same stranger might turn out to be a helping hand in the near future. We're all being circumspect, but at the same time we're casting away the positive possibilities.”
