"Dad! You're off the crutches at last!" Tucker ran to hug his dad, who smiled, one hand concealing something behind his back. He winked at his wife, who came out of the kitchen, where a delicious smell was present.
"Now, I know we don't have very much right now, but as it's your birthday, I thought we'd give you something special."
"Hmmm?" Tucker looked at his dad. "I thought you had, like, insurance or something."
His smile turned a little strained. "Somehow, they didn't believe us when we told them we had our entire house blasted to pieces by some freak ghost attack. But... this apartment isn't so bad, right?"
Tucker looked around. It did feel like home, even if it was a little cramped and the toilet never quite worked. All it needed was a PDA. "No, Dad. I don't mind it."
"Now," His mom extracted the present, wrapped in newspaper, from behind her husband's back and held it out to him. It was distinctly rectangular. "time for your present!"
"Oh, cool!" Tucker tore open the flimsy present. He gasped. "A PDA! The latest?"
"Sure, honey!" Tucker's mom wraps her arms around her son. "Well, it was... five years ago."
"Awww! Thanks Mom! Thanks Dad!" Tucker releases himself from the hug and holds the PDA high in his hand. "Me and this baby, we're gonna go-"
A stray green ghost ray smashes through the window, bores a hole straight through the PDA's screen, and buries itself in a smouldering black mark in the prized family portrait, right on the part with Tucker's face.
Tucker lowers his PDA, and stares at the neatly punctured screen, still glowing at the edges. "Well, that's just-"
It explodes in his face, leaving him with a very stunned and sooty colour. Tucker blinks, twice.
"Hey, Flappy! Don't you want a bit of a kick-start?" A second later, a large, green vulture in a pirate hat smashed into their living room, startling the three.
"You, too! Hey, even you! I'm here all WEEK!" With that, two other vultures crashed through the wall. A section of the ceiling crumbled and fell on Tucker's dad.
"Argh! My legs! Again!"
Tucker looked up, to see none other than that hated Danny Phantom, rubbing his hands together, smiling. "You gonna leave my Dad alone now? Or do you need a return trip to Phantom Airlines? Offering free one way trips to the Ghost Zone!"
The vultures gulped. "Run, boys!" They flew away as fast as their spectral wings could take them.
Tucker watched Phantom leave, hate brewing in his heart. "One day, Phantom, you're gonna pay for this."
"Hey!" Tucker's mom runs to the kitchen. "Dinner's still alright! Uhh... except for... oh... ohhhh... ugh, what is... I-I don't remember putting potato in... nevermind! We're eating out!"
"Paulina? Really?" Jazz parks her car and rolls her eyes at Danny's expression. "She's like a little poodle."
Pretty. Popular. Shallow. Cruel. A bit dim. Any cheerleader-girl stereotype you could think of, this girl fit the bill. Jazz felt sorry for the Nasty Burger employees who dealt with her regular orders of 'Mini Mighty Meaties and a side of sugar-free chocolate milkshake'.
How could somebody as clever as Jazz's brother have a crush on somebody like Paulina? Jazz could never understand Danny at times.
"So you like her?" Danny looked at Jazz hopefully. Jazz sighed.
"Danny, just because I liked Skulker's little puppy Cujo does not mean every dog analogy I will make from here on will be considered good! Besides; I hate poodles, ever since... that incident!"
