So I finished this story on FanFiction.net. Why not post it here? ;)

Jazz, feeling at her wit's end with this little 'side project' of hers, finally shut her 8-year old's diary with a little force behind it.

So far, she had found out nothing useful, and as it began to get dark, she was beginning to get tired. She needed to kiss Danny goodnight, and study for things.

But as she stood up, there she felt a sharp prickling in her pocket. Taking out the thing, she discovered it to be no other than the Vlad bug she had been planning to hack into.

She turned it round and round, considering.

Call me crazy, but I have a bad feeling about what happened yesterday. It may be the reason why Dad's acting so strangely.

She sat down at her desk again - checking her antivirus before plugging the bug in – and got to work.

LINE BREAK

Danny woke up slowly, as he would any morning. But as soon as he felt the cufflinks around his hands and feet, he knew something was up.

He was in somewhere very bright, so bright that it hurt to look at. It was quite a spacious room, but not ridiculously so. There was no Fenton Portal to be seen, yet a steel door to the side had 'FLOOR -2' written in white above it. Danny cast a frightened eye around the room as soon as his eyes adjusted to the bright conditions. Shelves upon shelves, filled with neatly ordered, sleek, white-coloured inventions, a pyramid of smoke bombs, and a large array of weapons conveniently placed right in front of him. Homely, don't you think?

Danny felt so welcome.

He struggled, but it was difficult to move. He realised that he was chained to a cold stone board, by the same glowing cuffs Jack had used before. He couldn't move his arms or legs beyond the limited range of the shackles. Danny thought about transforming into his human form, until he realised... he already was. He still couldn't break free.

Jack must have done some improvements.

"Ah, awake, are we?" Danny's stomach clenched in fear as a figure in a white suit stepped out from a door to the side. "I was wondering how long Test Subject Alpha was going to take."

"Dad!" Danny played the family card, but that had little effect. Jack merely laughed, his arms crossed.

"I am the greatest ghost hunter in the world, Daniel. And you," he pointed at his son. "are a ghost. Family changes nothing."

"Fudge?" Danny tried, but Jack looked unimpressed. He look out a large needle and began slowly walking towards Danny, who gasped and tried to struggle back.

"It was funny the first time, boy! Though," Jack hesitated. "Some fudge would be nice."

Danny waited nervously, but Jack merely shook himself out of it. "Doesn't matter! All that matters is that I am the greatest ghost hunter in the world!"

"But... but..." Danny dodged the needle. "What about family, Dad? You always said your work was nothing compared to your family. You love us!"

"Ah, Daniel." Jack stopped a moment. "And there lies the reason why you will never be a great ghost hunter."

"Huh?" Danny raised an eyebrow, and flinched when Jack stabbed a finger at his heart.

"There." Jack grinned strangely. "You're a walking, bleeding heart, boy. You'd never hurt the ones you love. You'd never sacrifice those close to you."

"So?" Danny challenged.

"So you'll never be able to truly be at your strongest. So," Jack readied the needle again. "you can be the most powerful ghost in the world, but all one has to do is threaten your family and you're helpless. Now, stop struggling; it's no use."
