"An 'ow didsh he do it? The uplicate shing?" Danny interrupted Jazz mid flow; a good idea... if you had a death wish. The mouth-full-of-cereal addition was a nice touch as well.
"Danny, that is disgusting." Jazz shielded her eyes. "I don't want to see that. And, like all the ghostly stuff you do, I have no idea how he did it, just that he did, okay? Now, thanks to you, I've lost my thread."
"You were telling me about Vlad coming back." Danny, after this rather disinterested comment, shovelled another titanic spoonful of breakfast into his mouth, chewing loudly.
"Ah, yes! So I installed these little Maddiecams into places in his mansion. Now, we can see-"
"You shpying on im?" Danny frowned, and swallowed. "Why? And how did you get them all the way to Wisconsin?"
"You haven't noticed?" Jazz fished in her pocket, drawing out a small, Vlad-like bug, one of the 'wings' clearly tampered with by Jazz so it didn't work. "We're bugged. Literally bugged. Vlad may not come back tomorrow, or any time soon, but he's definitely keeping tabs on us, so we have to keep tabs on him. I found this little guy in the labs after the fudge incident yesterday, and I'm gonna find out what he's heard."
"Speaking of the fudge incident," Danny finished his bowl and, rather than washing it up, cleaned around the sides with a light ectoblast from his finger. "Is Dad really not awake yet? I know he's a late sleeper, but it's twelve o'clock!"
"You just got up." Jazz pointed out.
"Well, I've been hunting ghosts all night!" Danny pointed out, not noticing the bowl he was cleaning was slowly developing a blackened hole in the middle.
"So was I." Jazz argued, but she cut in before they became too sidetracked. "But if you must know, Dad's already up."
"What?" The bowl shattered in Danny's hands, which would have made a great dramatic point if he hadn't jumped and done a little nervous dance in place to get the little imaginary shards off of him.
"Danny! Out of the way!" Jazz got down on her knees and began picking up some of the pieces. "That was one of the last few bowls that didn't try and eat us back! But yeah," Jazz opened the trash can, dumping most of the pieces into it. "I heard him around four, setting off the pressure plate outside his door."
"You have a pressure plate outside their door? Isn't that going a little too far, Jazz?" Danny frowned, tactfully keeping out of Jazz's way while she cleaned up the fragments of the bowl he shattered.
"In case Mom gets up while we're hunting ghosts. It's part of a whole surveillance I've set up, around Amity Park; Big Sister, I called it, if you get the reference. But that's not the point, isn't it? Shouldn't you be asking why he's getting up? And he didn't activate the fudge sensor, so he didn't have breakfast. And he didn't check on us." Jazz turned to face Danny. "Something's up with Dad, and I'm going to find out what!" She began walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Danny called.
"To the library. You go down to the lab and interrogate- err, chat with Dad. Try to find out what's wrong, but play it close to the chest, okay? Love you!" Jazz was out of the door before Danny could respond.
"Uh, yeah, love you too." Danny rolled his eyes as he turned away. "Even if you are a fink." He descended the steps of the lab, slightly cautiously, and then stopped as he beheld the sight before him.
