CHAPTER 10: DISTRUST

"You were married"! You exclaimed, the absurdity of that statement still boggling your mind. 'Since when, there's only one man that lives in Jade's heart, the only man that can live in her mind rent free and that man isn't even real, he's fictional so this marriage thing is a shocker to both me and that man', you thought as you sat there shell shocked due to the mind boggling revelation that Alexander just spilled. You were kind of heartbroken because you had to hear it from Alexander and not Jade, which made you question if she really trusted you. This information was not some toy she forgot to tell you she bought, it was a whole marriage, she was only 19 so when did this marriage thing even happen. "It's nothing, it was just dating not marriage, he's exaggerating", she said giving him the nastiest side eye. He scoffed as he turned to look out of your window whilst shaking his head. You don't know why but you feel he is telling the truth and well your best friend is lying. That doesn't sit well with you, so you decide to shove your thoughts far down into the box you created in your mind that you store things you can't get rid of but want them to disappear, your memories, you thoughts and sometimes even your opinions are one of the things in that box. "What is Alexander doing in your room, Lyla"? Jade asks as she looks you dead in the eyes as if searching for something. The truth? Well you haven't said anything yet, not to mention you haven't lied but you decide to answer. "I don't know, he showed up to my front door this evening , I left my pencil case behind on the ground at school and he decided to bring it back. I invited him in, you know because I'm friendly then next thing I know he's in my room on the phone with you and you end up climbing up the side of my house to get into my room. Girl you don't even jump rope in PE". You state everything that happened that evening leading up to this moment. They both glance at each other with a look of suspicion? Concern? Concern that they may have been caught? You can't quite put your finger on it but it's there and its hogging their facial expressions. "Okay I need answers, I'm not stupid, something is going on and I want to know. Now. " You say as you held your head high and had you hands firmly planted on your hips. You glare at both of them slightly expecting them to tell you the truth but preparing yourself for the lies they were about to spew. " oh c'mon, you aren't ready for the truth princess, the only truth you should be asking us for is why jade doesn't trust you enough to have told you the secret she is currently still keeping". He smirked mockingly looking directly at you. You knew what he was trying to do, he was trying to direct all the blame to Jade. Although it was slightly working since you glanced at Jade letting his words sink in. Why won't she tell you? Does she really not trust me? Am I not as trustworthy as I thought? These thoughts kept circulating your mind as you looked down and preferred not to look at her at the moment. Exasperated jade said: "girl, it's not that I don't trust you. The secret I have is bigger than you and me, and he knows as soon as you find out, he will take advantage of you and your mind. I don't know why he has this sudden interest in you but it's never good. I will tell you when the time is right and I promise I will tell you everything but until then Alex is not to be trusted", she said glaring at him from across the room. In your heart you knew she was right. Your heart knew you could trust her. But your mind, your mind is conflicted. You don't know what to believe because she is telling you not to trust Alex yet she's the one keeping secrets. You decided to put a pin on your thoughts and trust her blindly just this once because she has never given you a reason not to trust her until now and she claims it's for a good reason. She's a good person, she wouldn't hurt you. Would she?
"I trust you", you tell her, trying to convince yourself of the words too. Letting out a yawn, Alex sees that as his cue to leave.
"Look, im someone who loves to ruin someone else's night, especially Jade but it is late and I'm getting quite horny, so if you all don't mind, I have some business to take care of, if of course you lovely ladies wanna help a guy out", you scoff to his implied comment and watch as jade points to your window and yells at him. "Get out Alex", she says sounding irritated than amused. From what you've seen he's not the type of person to leave without a hassle. " Jade don't be a party pooper, you guys in your sexy pyjamas and I can strip down to my boxers and that will be the start of an amazing night. Sounds fun doesn't it", he says as you start to giggle watching Jade's eye twitch. She takes a deep breath and you anticipate the worst. "Alex if you don't get your ass out of this house I swear to God I will-", she starts saying as he puts his hands in the air in surrender. "So are you going to just stand there and not open the door for me? I am a guest after all", he says as he puts his hands on his hips in a sassy manner loving the way he provokes her. "A guest my ass, what you are is a trespasser, Get out!" She yells and that's when Alex made a run for the door with Jade hot on his heels. Where did she get the metal bat?. You suspect she came in with it somehow. Doesn't really matter since she's probably on the lawn beating the shit out of Alex. "If I catch you in this house ever again Alex, I will use far worse tools than this bat. Are you giving me the middle finger-shove it up your ass, you jackass!" you heard her scream as she entered your house heaving from the running she did. You were bewildered because she refused to participate in track and field yet here she is breathing heavily from the sprinting she came back from caused by Alex. " So.... You both seem close", you said as she turned her head to face you, glaring straight into your soul. You tried to hold in the laugh bubbling, waiting to come out due to her appearance. Her disheveled hair, pink tinted cheeks and doused in sweat. You took out your phone and quickly captured the moment. "I'm totally going to get this framed", you exclaimed as you ran up the stairs with jade hot on your trail screaming threats as you both land on your bed laughing. Today although weird, was a day to remember, you had felt somewhat, what freedom tastes like and you didn't want it to end. That moment when you and jade fell asleep after she showered and you both watched a movie. You had looked out of your window and something told you that this year was about to get interesting and that this was just the beginning. 'What a way to start the year', you thought, slowly drifting to sleep.
