Unexpected Encounter

Chapter 11

I arrive at the Bevergem hotel and inside the hotel, I see Lando running down the stairs. I walk inside and then run to Lando, but before I know it Lando is already flying around my neck.

'Sorry, sorry, sorry,' Lando repeats all the time. 'Do you want to be my girl again?

I am silent for a moment. How am I supposed to respond? 'Yes, but if you do tell me the reason.'

'Sorry, I'm in love with you. Only I have to learn how best to deal with that. 'I'm really very sorry Rox,' Lando says to me. My eyes get big and before I know it I'm kissing him. I think it's also because of the race, which is soon.

A few drivers start booing when they see us standing there kissing. I chuckle inside and then we pull back.

"Come!" says Lando and grabs me by my hand. He pulls me with him to the elevator and then presses the elevator button, which should make the elevator come down.

'Hello Lando, what's this girl's name?" suddenly someone asks and comes and stands next to me.

'This is Roxanne, Daniel. Roxanne, this is Daniel. My driver buddy from McLaren,' Lando introduces us.

'Hey Daniel! Nice to meet you,' I say and hold out my hand.

'How did you meet her?" asks Daniel to Lando.

'I met her in a store,' Lando answers his question. I breathe a sigh of relief that he didn't say he met me at my old job.

'Nice to meet you too!" says Daniel enthusiastically and shakes my hand. 'It would be nice if you guys got together!' He whispers the last in my ear so Lando wouldn't hear.

"Why?" I ask in surprise. I almost wanted to say, Lando and I already have something.

'It's obvious from both of you! I mean, there are just sparks splashing off of you. And- and.'

'Daniel, calm down!" I almost yell at him and gesture with my hands for him to soften up. Meanwhile, the elevator is down and the three of us get in.

'What are you guys talking about?" asks Lando.

'About love!" chuckles Daniel.

Lando's lips form a soundless 'o' and I feel the elevator stop, then the doors slide open soundlessly. We all step out of the elevator and in front of me I see all the other drivers standing. Also Lewis Hamilton, but I don't give him a look. That one race when he drove Max off the track I found really mean of him. The same had I not met Max at all today and he might not have been there. I mean, you never know if it would have ended badly!

Hey Lando! Hey Daniel! Hey Roxanne!" shouts Charles down the hallway.

'Charles, softer please!" screams all the drivers except Daniel and Lando. Those are grinning from ear to ear.

'Come Rox, we need to get in here. Bye Daniel!" says Lando and opens a door to our right.

'Talk to you later Daniel,' I say and give him a hug.

'Later Rox!" smiles Daniel and I walk in behind Lando.
