"Are you gonna tell us what happened? Or are you just gonna mope around with your headphones in, because I'm quite happy with both." Jasmine pulled out one of my earphones, looking up from her work spread across the table."It doesn't even matter." I retorted, closing my textbook yet another time in the past 30 minutes.
"Well it obviously does, you're in a terrible mood and you've been like that since I watched Juyeon follow you into the library. Did he reject you or something?" Louise laughed slightly, poking at my shoulder, knowing the comment would get me talking.
"No he didn't. I'm not interested, I've said that before. He's nothing but a stuck up, nosy, angelic little rich boy." I snapped in annoyance, the others realizing something was wrong from the chain of insults that were spat from my lips.
"Something definitely went down. But I won't pry but you can talk to us when you want to." Shan looked up from her book, her legs swung on to the table in front of her.
"Yeah, we're not exactly like the girls back in California. You're lucky if Minnie even knows what's going on. Anything you say stays here." Louise tapped on the table in emphasis, as I shot her skeptical look.
"Really?" I asked with an arched brow, leaning forward curiously.
"Yeah, that's what being friends is about, trust, we all barely have 15 contacts in our phones including our Mums and Dads. On top of that, fraternizing is forbidden, it's an all girls school, we don't want that kind of thing spreading around about any of us - including you." She replied, the rest of the girls nodding in agreement with her as she slung an arm around my shoulder. "Besides, you're one of us now America."
I smiled sheepishly, getting up from my seat to go fetch another textbook from the extensive school library. 'Mathematics.' 'Geography'... Not what I want... Gazing up the staircase, I peered across the many golden genre signs displayed above the bookcases on the second floor. History. Huffing dramatically, I began to clamber the spiraled stairs with heavy feet.
With a delicate finger, I traced the many books across the shelf, Roman History, Georgian, Tudor... What even is this section?... Picking out another WWII textbook, I flicked through the pages making sure I had the right one. My attention began to wander, to notice that there was a small table beside the bookshelf, it beautifully outlooked the many acres of land outside of the school.
I sat down, the words on page 12 being completely forgotten about as I stared out of the crystal pane. By the stables below, Amy seemed to be having some trouble controlling one of the many horses around her. Standing on its hind legs and whipping its head around manically. "Oh my god, will you just go in there?!" She screamed as it kicked fiercely, I couldn't help but giggle at the sight of her clumsily stumbling away from the panicked animal.
"Woah there what did you do to upset him so much?" A muffled voice belonging to a male spoke, glancing back from my textbook at the familiarity. Juyeon was now outside, stroking the muzzle of the horse, its shaky feet coming to halt as he soothed it. Something about it had not just me in awe, but clearly Amy too, as she gasped and giggled over him childishly. My top lip curled up in disgust, eventually blocking her out with a sigh, I watched as he focused on the horse. His eyes softened, his lips pursed in concentration, adjusting his navy ball cap and sweeping his messy black hair out of the way. He roughly pulled at the leather reigns, guiding the calmer horse back into its stable. I closely paid attention to his calloused hands, he was good with horses, he knew he exactly when to be firm and gentle. As he stepped back out, he must of felt a pair of eyes on him as he looked around the windows curiously - ignoring Amy and her advances as she gushed over him pathetically.
Snapping my attention back to my book with a relieved sigh, I didn't even read the next sentence before turning back to the window. He was still stood there, looking directly into the window I was sat in. Momentarily I'd froze, his deep chocolate eyes catching my own. He grinned knowingly, sending me a small wave, as I bitterly got up - walking off without waving back to the boy below out of nothing but spite.

"So he unplugged the computer because you were being an arse, you had a bit of a strop, compared him to your dad and left?" Louise asked in reply to the mess of a vent I'd just finished.
We were back in the dorm, the night creeping up on us as I spilled the details of what happened between Juyeon and I on the day prior. I huffed, returning her a nasty glare and sat up against my bed frame.
"No. He was poking around in an email that had nothing to do with him. The only reason I was writing to Lily was to sweeten her up. I need a ride back from New York somehow! He even threatened to tell his Mum if I was 'up to something'!" I threw my hands up in the air dramatically, bringing them to my face as I groaned in annoyance.
"It's called sarcasm Y/N. Us Brits use it a bit excessively, he's not actually gonna tell his Mum." Jas added with a snicker, her own sarcasm not helping the situation too much either.
"I'm just not interested. He can talk to me if he wants, but he'd be lucky to get a reply." I groaned, turning on to my side.
"Do what feels right. Goodnight Y/N." Minnie turned the light out beside her, as we all fell back into our beds with a sigh. The entire room fading black into the thick navy blue sky.
Everything that happened felt so out of my control, so many rules, so many consequences and no free reign. It was prison, British people prison - throwing an unruly American in there is like feeding streaky bacon to a starving mountain lion.
Aside from that, my thoughts wandered back to Juyeon earlier. Despite being on difficult terms, he continued to act as if nothing ever happened. My mind had been stuck on the way he calmed that completely rogue horse down. With all my mixed feelings, it must have been enough to eventually let my eyes peacefully flutter closed.
