BEFORE READING: REMEMBER YOUR LEGAL DOCUMENT
Ruby walked into school, feeling much better than the previous day. She'd accepted that Claire was having her dad's baby and, realistically, there wasn't much she could do to stop it. Fifth, and final, stage: acceptance
When the girl walked into school she saw Druig smiling at her.
"Hello" he grinned and walked beside her to their classroom "A little birdie told me that you ended your relationship yesterday"
Ruby tried to hold back her smile, finding it impossible "And a little birdie told me you were next in the queue"
Livia sighed as they walked into the classroom and mumbled to Sam "At least we missed these with... Her summer relationships" the girl forgot who her friend had dated over the summer.
"So..." Druig smiled "Will you be my girlfriend?"
Ruby nodded "I was gonna ask to wait for a while because of my dad and Claire but I can't be bothered waiting. Plus, why should their relationship affect my life?"
Emily walked in and saw the new couple and rolled her eyes. They should really be used to it at this point.
The day before
Emily checked her phone as the awkward scene in Eternals took place. She'd received a message from her crush, Stella.
'Hey'
Even the short greeting brought butterflies into the girls stomach.
'Hi, what's up' Emily responded. She got a reply almost instantly.
'Nm. Michael is playing some game on the TV so I'm bored, u'
'Ruby is forcing me to watch Eternals' Emily replied with 'She just got out of a break up and she's taking it rough'
Emily didn't want to tell her the real reason because their family were always really close to Robert and Claire.
"Turn off your phone" Carly shouted at the girl "I want to watch this" (Sersi and Ikarus' scene had passed. Bro chill out I'm not gonna make her that much of a weirdo... Yet...)
Everyone glared at Carly "YOU LIKE IT?! I KNEW IT!" Ruby smiled.
Emily put her phone away and decided to message the girl later instead.
"Hey, Ruby, can I talk to you please? Outside?" Emily asked.
The girl nodded and followed her friend outside "What's wrong?"
"I just wanna make sure you're ok with me dating Stella, right? I mean, you're fine with Livia and Sam dating your exes so me dating your ex's twin sister isn't bad, is it?"
Ruby thought about it. Yes, yes. It was a terrible idea. That family would only bring Emily pain and Ruby didn't want that but... How would she tell her?
"Ruby?" Emily waved her hand in front of the curly haired girls face "Is that ok?"
"Yeah, no problem! Good luck!" Ruby accidentally said.
"Really? Great, thanks!" Emily skipped back into the room.
Maybe Stella was different?
Summer, the year before
"No" Ruby laughed as her boyfriend brushed his hand through her hair, getting it caught "Just because you're my boyfriend doesn't mean you have to agree with everything I say"
Michael smiled "No, I'm genuinely serious! Druig looks exactly like me!" He indicated to the A4 print of the man in her room "I'm sure you make out with that exact picture on the days you're at your mums, pretending it's me"
Ruby looked at the man in front of her "I have an idea!" She dragged his arm out of her three story house and down their road, passed his house, to the garage. "Two blue tango ice blasts please"
The man at the till filled the cups up and Ruby payed before they left. They went back up to their street and sat in Michael's back garden.
"Do you remember that day we got tango ice blasts with my brother and your family?"
"They're not my family" Ruby interrupted "Sorry, they're just not"
Michael nodded "and your dad, his wife, - but girlfriend at the time. Or fiancée? anywho - her daughter, your brother and Cooper?" He corrected himself "And then we played football and you landed on top of me?"
Ruby put her head in her hand "I've been trying to forget it ever since"
"I think it's cute" Michael smiled before Ruby had her first kiss and the couple had their first, last and only kiss.
"Hey Lewis" Livia smiled to the boy as he walked in to the class, followed by her other boyfriend "Oh, hi Charlie!"
The boys came over and each gave her a kiss on the cheek as she did the same.
"Still on for tonight?" Lewis asked.
Livia nodded "Ice skating? Duh!"
"Don't recommend" Ruby pulled out two wrist braces from her bag. She now permanently carries them both everywhere. You never know.
Charlie nodded at her "Yes, but... I have no comeback. That could happen to anyone"
"Exactly. It happens to the best of us" the girl put the braces away.
"Be careful, Livia" Lewis laughed at his joke "You're the best, so you might wanna wear her arm braces there"
"Smooth" Livia smiled at her boyfriend.
"Georgia" Sam ran over to her girlfriend "I didn't know you and Ruby used to date"
Georgia looked at the taller, curly haired girl "You told her?"
"No" Ruby started "Livia accidentally told her" before mouthing 'She doesn't know what happened though'
Georgia nodded, thankfully. If Sam knew... It would end well for no one.
