I hadn't been asleep long, but it felt like forever. I woke up to Clay jumping on top of me, all of his weight landing directly on my bladder. He always had a special talent for doing that and it drove me batshit insane.

"Ow, what the fuck, Clay? Get off of me!" I'm surprised I managed to say anything coherent at all. I'd just been having a weird dream about us as kids that was really more of a flashback than anything else. It was during the time when we were about fourteen and I had accidentally fallen in love with him for a spell. I managed to shake myself out of it fairly quickly, but it was still a very traumatizing time. I was sick to my stomach for weeks over him. I'd never told anyone about it, not even Lyla.

"Wake up, we're going swimming," he announced. "I was going to let you sleep a little bit more but I know you'd be mad if we swam without you. I got that beer you like, get up, Mer!"

"Dude, get off of me or I'm for real going to pee everywhere and it will be your fault," I pushed him off of me. If I looked hard enough I'm sure I could find one somewhere, but I wasn't about to dig. "I don't even have a bathing suit here."

"Damn, you're grumpy as hell right now," he stood up, sticking out a hand to help me up. "We can go to yours and get that and your car, if you want?"

"Okay, let's go," I wasn't any help in pulling me up, I was still kind of out of it and mostly dead weight.

"Jesus, put in at least a little effort, Meredith. You're going to throw my back out," he grunted, finally getting me to my feet.

"Shut the fuck up," I rolled my eyes. "You're such an ass sometimes."

"You know I'm kidding, Mer," he said, ruffling my hair. "If anything, it's a poor reflection on me. I need to work out solely so I can carry you places."

I let it go and we went out to his car. "Oh my God," I had just had the most brilliant idea. "We should set Nick and Lyla up! I wish I had someone for George, though."

"Holy shit," Clay said, sliding into the driver's seat. "That's actually genius, honestly. They'd get along so well, it might get a little scary. And I'm pretty sure George has a little thing going on with a girl back home, so don't worry about him."

"I know," I laughed. "I don't know how I didn't think of it before. They're like the same exact person, both very high energy. And if he is for sure moving here, then it would kick his ass into gear on that maybe."

"Are you still considering moving in?" He asked, pulling out onto the street. His hand, as always, found itself to the back of my headrest as he backed out. He looked so fucking hot when he did that, so I peeled my eyes away. I could not revisit fourteen-year-old me's crush, it would destroy me. "I really think you should, even just until you find a new place. You can have first dibs on the room, fuck Nick. He can live in the shed for all I care."

"I was going to move in with Lyla or something, but her lease is up soon too," I said. "So yeah, I guess I am. He agreed to move in before me, so he should get first dibs. Plus I'm not a permanent resident and he is."

"Would she be down to go out with us whenever we go? That could be a good way to break the ice between her and Nick," he shrugged a little. "And good, I'm glad you're moving in. And you could be a permanent resident, you know. You can stay as long as you want. Don't even fucking think about trying to pay rent either, I'll rip up the checks."

"Yeah, she'd totally be down," I said, "we need to make sure they're both interested though." I decided to drop the moving in topic because I really didn't want to get into that right now. It would only end in a fight over money, and I wasn't in the mood.
