MAL was in a rage as she walked -- no, stormed -- up to the Beast Castle. How dare Adam just drag the name of her friend's friend's family and friends through the mud like that!

Evie, bless her blue-berry soul, didn't hold Mal back when the purple-haired half-faery announced she was going to Beast Castle to... sort it all out.

"Just be safe, yeah?" Evie had said. "Adam's ruining the reputation of every VK that comes in his way. And people are blaming you already for breaking the Barrier."

"I know." Mal had replied. "Bye, E."

The demi-godess knocked on Ben's office/study door and the young king had opened it with a bewildered look on his face.

"What's wrong Mal?" He asked, as if the world innocent VKs wasn't crumbling down.

"What's wrong?" She repeated in a scarily calm voice. "What's wrong? I'll tell you what's wrong?"

Ben opened the door a little wider, and Mal stepped in.

"I don't get why you're angry, Mal." He said in his you're-acting-like-a-kid voice.

"Ben your father's ruining the life of innocent people who are only looking out for each other!" Mal snarled.

"They accused my dad of imprisoning them and are spreading rumours about him!" Ben snapped, his Beast side taking control.

"They're telling the truth!" Mal glared at her fiancé. "I even have proof!"

"They're criminals!" Ben yelled. "Zevon and Cj tried to take over Auradon! Uma bewitched me-"

"-So did I!-" Mal cut in.

"-Harry kidnapped me!" Ben went on, ignoring her. "Gil's father is Gaston! They're all criminals!"

"I helped my mother almost take over Auradon when I first came here," Mal reminded. "I bewitched you, I've kidnapped a lot of people, my parents are the worst 'villains' in the land. I'm just as bad as them."

Ben looked like he just realized it. "Mal I-"

"Save it, Benjamin!" She removed her engagement ring and threw it at him. "We're done. Go tell your parents. Play the victim if you want. But I'm not changing my mind!"

And with that, she stormed off, leaving Ben alone.

Evie was waiting for her in Evie4hearts when Doug arrived.

"Evie," He said. "We have to talk."

Evie looked up from the design she was sketching. "Sure, Dougy. What's wrong."

"The article." He showed her the article and she flinched.

"It's all lies, Doug." She said softly. "Don't believe it."

"Well, they might be lies but it's bad for business." He said and she rolled her eyes.

She might lose Auradon customers, but she would still have the Villain Kids.

"Doug they're Carlos' friends." She reminded. "I don't want to ruin my friendship with him." And then added as an afterthought, "And Ophelia's a sweetheart."

"Evie-"

"Doug I'm sorry but I choose them." She said.

He took in a deep breath. "I'm sorry Evie, but we're done."

She sighed. "We would've broken up anyway." She said. "I'm lesbian."

"I hope you and Mal get together soon then." Doug said.

Evie looked at him in surprise. "How-"

"Your eyes, Evie. Your eyes."

And he left, chuckling, just as Mal came back.

"M! How did it-" Evie's smile dropped when she saw Mal's tear-stained face.

She pulled her into a hug and the girls sat down, Mal crying and Evie comforting her.

When did all start going downhill? The latter girl thought.
