We were finishing our food which tasted amazing as always. Hari's eyes were focused on his food, but from time to time he'd look up to see me looking at him, and then immediately bring his attention back to his food, blushing. He was just so adorable. Once we finished and our plates were put away. I turned on some music.
"Dance with me." I said, offering him my hand as the music played behind us.
"Alright, but don't you want to wear your mask first?"
"No, it's fine. It's just you and me here."
He blushed as he took my hand as we started dancing. I held him close to me as we listened to the music and danced. Hari let out a little laugh as I twirled him.
"What's so funny?"
"Remember when we were in high school and it was prom?"
"Of course I do. I had a date with someone and you decided to teach me how to dance."
"We spent so many days learning how to dance until it was the day of prom."
"I left while you stayed because you didn't want to go."
"Yup. And I told you that you didn't want to go so going over to a dance party that you hate with someone you don't know would be hell for you."
"But, I decided that I would be able to do it and left to the party."
"I was surprised you even left."
"Once I got there I got one foot out the door before completely changing my mind and heading back home."
"You had me text your date that you weren't able to make it."
"You really made me seem like not an ass. Do you remember what you texted her?"
"Of course, you had told me right before giving me your phone-"
"The privilege of pretending to be me and using my phone is a big one. Don't mess it up." I finished
"Yep. So I texted her as you,
'Hey Irin, I can't make it to prom. I'm so sorry about that. Something came up and I can't go out anymore. Sorry.""Then I broke up with her the next day."
"You were so popular back then."
"It was annoying."
"They all saw you as the hot, cold-hearted alpha. Who can warm his heart?"
"It was so stupid."
"That's true."
"Especially when I actually started dating people. Ew."
"Remember the first person you dated?"
"The one in my first year of high school that I was with for a total of 2 whole weeks?"
"Nope. The one you almost married in 6th grade."
"Too long ago."
"Some girl said that she liked you. And that when you like someone, you get married."
"Sounds like something a priest would say."
"Yeah. Her father was a priest and it was at her birthday party. He said you guys should get married and you went along with it."
"Why would I do that?"
"You didn't want to cause a scene so you went along with it."
"Well, when he said if anyone objects, I marched up there, took your arm and asked if he had talked with your father about it. He ended up agreeing and when Boss came to pick us up he was pissed that this guy would juts marry you and his daughter to each other at 12 years old. "
"Well good thing you were there to save me."
"Well at first I didn't do anything because I kept telling myself that I can't get in the way of your love life, but when I thought about how angry Boss would be, I knew I had to do something."
I looked at his face smiling. And he smiled back at me.
"Hari, I know you like me." I said looking at him.
"And I know you like me too, Kai." he said holding eye contact
"So, will you be my boyfriend?" I'm not sure how these things go, but I'm pretty sure it's something like this.
"Oh. I was under the impression we were already married?" he said with a small smirk.
"Alright, love. Would you like to be mine? Better?"
His face turned pink before he interlocked our fingers and said, "I'd love to."
We ended up on the couch with popcorn, a warm blanket, and watching some Batwoman. I don't understand his obsession with the CW, but he loves the new shows of Batwoman and Kung Fu. He also loves complaining about the new seasons of the Flash and Supergirl which is understandable.
"Hey, Kai."
"Hmm?"I hummed in response.
"You know most couples get together before having kids right?"
"Well most couples don't make illegal drugs either. Your point?"
"Hmm. Nothing really. Just funny that we've know about our feelings for each other way before Eri was born."
"Yeah. There's a time and place. We missed a while bunch of them."
"Yup. Like that time we confessed to each other."
"Right. It was at the night of prom after I ditched the girl. You told me that you knew I couldn't bring myself to go. And I responded with 'maybe if I was with you I could.'"
"And I was like 'why, because you love me?' and you said yes."
"Then you said, 'well I feel the same'."
"Then we pretended like it never happened."
"Well, this time, I'll make sure things are different."
We continued watching until the others came and Hari went to put Eri-our daughter-to bed. I can't really see myself as a parent. But Hari's trying. He really is. So, all I can do is support him and listens to what he says. And do some research on how to parent obviously. I only know from Boss and as good as he was he wasn't much of a role model as a parent. I wonder how Hari knows what to do? Knowing him he probably got it off movies and books. He said he always wanted a parent like Ms. Perumal, I guess know he wants to be one like her.
