Gerard didn't know what to do.
After what Frank had said to him just a few minutes before, he felt like his heart had just dropped to his feet. To be honest, he really didn't know where he was going. He just wanted to be as far away from Frank as possible.
Gerard stopped at a brick wall on the side of the street. He took one shaky breath before slumping his back against the brick wall and sitting down on the cold, hard cement.
There, Gerard broke down. He didn't hesitate to let the tears flow out. He couldn't possibly make sense of what was going on in his mind right now. It was all a big cluster of sadness, anger and hatred.
He couldn't believe that he'd let himself think for even a second that Frank returned his feelings. Of course Frank didn't. After all, who could ever love a loser like Gerard?
Gerard got up off the sidewalk and made his way back to his house. By the time he got there, the sub was setting and it was beginning to get dark outside. He laid down on his bed and stuffed his head in his pillow to silence the sound of him crying. This time, the tears were pouring out uncontrollably. He imagined seeing Frank with someone else. He imagined Frank being happier without him. Gerard thought of all the worst case scenarios he could conjure up before he heard a knock on his window.
Surprised and slightly shocked, he got up to go investigate. Upon further inspection, he could see that it was in fact Frank who had knocked. Gerard opened the window just enough so that he could talk to Frank.
"What do you want." Gerard spat out.
"I only want to talk, Gerard. I don't think you understood what I meant earlier today." Frank tried to explain himself, but Gerard didn't want to hear it.
"Get lost."
"Please, Gerard! Just open the window!"
Reluctantly, Gerard opened the window so Frank could crawl through.
