C11: Fresh Start

One hour later, both cars stopped on a desert road. It was time to leave each other. They all got out of their respective cars.

" I gotta give it to you, Rach, you really know how to throw a party. " Dawn joked while Hank and Dick were packing the 5 seat car with the teenagers' belongings.

" Yeah. Do it again. " Jason requested. " Love beating Dick's ass. " He said cockily.

Anais hugging him from behind, snuggled closer to him and laughed.

" Keep dreaming, bird boy. " Dick contested, smirking.

Dick walked past Jason, hitting him softly on the shoulder being careful not to hit one of Anais' arms.

" Nice one. Really inventive. " He said smugly.

" I'll be here all week. " The older man chuckled before putting bags in the back seats.

" Maybe give us a heads-up next time so I can do my own eye makeup. " Donna added, talking to Rachel.

The purple girl scoffed.

" Your demon dad wasn't much for subtlety. " She grinned.

" Really? I kinda liked it. It was really gothic; you know? " Kory teased.

" I didn't! " Both Anais and Garfield said simultaneously earning a smile from everyone.

Anais Squeezed Jason between her arms, not keen on remembering what happened. He took both of her hands and gave massaging them gently. Jason turned his head around to see how she was feeling, if anything, he noticed she seemed mostly tired. He gave her a quick peck on the cheek, making her smile at him, and turned his attention back on the conversation.

" [...] It couldn't have been. Dick was actually kinda funny, in a weird, psycho way. " Garfield said, turning his head to Dick, who was now making sure the engine was in the best condition before going in for a long trip.

" You do realize I'm listening? " He said picking out of the hood before going back in.

Rachel took the opportunity to say goodbye to Hank and Dawn, hugging her.

" You guys have fun. " The grown woman wished them.

" Where're you going? " Hank asked.

" Euh... " Not know the answer she turned to Dick. " Where are we going? " She asked him, shouting.

" Hm. I don't know. It's a mystery. " He said.

She turned back to the couple.

" It's a mystery. " She repeated dumbfounded. " Annoying. "

" Some things never change. " Dawn said looking at Dick loading the car... again.

Kory approached him.

" So, you caught the road bug, huh? " She asked him.

" What, bad coffee and greasy food? What's not to love? " He teased her.

" It's nice that you're taking the kids. "

" Yeah, you think so? "

" Mmm-hmm. " She approved.

" Because Hank didn't seem pleased that Anais wanted to go with us... "

Kory laughed, fixing her hair back.

" Hank just worries for her, I would be too if Rachel had died less than 48 hours ago. " She pointed out. " But still... you're good with them. " She complimented him.

" So are you. " He told her.

A few meters away, the group of teenagers were talking to themselves about what they were starving for.
