" Dick, that's bullshit! " Anais shouted. " Why should I watch her sleep? You wanted to 'rescue' her, she's your responsibility. "" I need to do something in the meantime. Just keep me updated when she'll wake up. "
Anais groaned irritated and dropped on the sofa next the new girl.
" Thanks. " The man said before leaving them in the bedroom alone.
The fact that she couldn't read her mind as easily as before bothered her, but she turned her attention towards the new book she had borrowed from Rachel. It was the first fantasy tome of a trilogy, about a kingdom destined to fall in the hands of a cruel man and the protagonist who tried to stop him before he fulfilled his destiny. It was interesting and made the time pass.
After several hours of reading and a sleepless night, the mysterious girl finally awakened. Confused she looked around her, looking at the bedroom. Leaning her gaze to her healed hand, she was shocked to see Anais' tired limp body on the only sofa of the room.
" Hey, there! " She welcomed the new girl.
She felt she was embarrassed and nervous to be with a stranger. She knew she would be difficult to, as Dick stated it, 'protect' her. Still, she wanted to make sure the girl felt welcomed.
She stayed silent, waiting for Anais to make a move.
" I'm Anais. Who are you? "
She turned her back at her. Still, Anais could hear her thoughts answer her question.
" It's good to meet you, Rose. " She smiled at the girl's back.
Rose tensed and turned around, frowning at her warily.
" Oh, sorry! " Anais apologized. " I'm a little tired, I couldn't help myself from listening to your brainwaves. " Seeing as she saw Rose back away slowly she continued: " Don't worry you're in a safe place, everyone who's here as a special talent, like you. We just wanted to make sure you were okay after last night fiasco. "
Slowly she stood up and walked to the door. Anais waved at her inviting her to follow her. She did.
Grayson, she's awake. She mentally warned him.
Not hearing any answer from him, she decided to take Rose around the compound. They started with Rose's assigned bedroom and walked to the commune gymnasium. They visited the old Titans' display room, where they changed into their respective disguised in the past.
We're going to the kitchen, now.
As told, she guided them to the commune area, where the kitchen, dinning table and living room were just one big open space. Rose stayed silent most of the visit. She only reacted to the towers view of San Francisco when they finally entered the salon.
" Wow... " Rose whispered, gently touching the window before her.
Anais let herself drop on one on the giant couches and tried to relax. She watched Rose carefully, making sure she wouldn't try something harsh like jumping from over fifty stories high hoping to escape them. She wouldn't blame them; she would have tried if she were in her shoes.
Her attention drifted to Dick's mind unknowingly:
" Hank? "
" We got trouble. Dawn and I just got a visit from Dr.Light. "
" Are you okay? "
" We are. There was a kid we were helping... He wasn't so lucky. "
" You sure it was Dr.Light? " Dick asked.
