Sounds. So many sounds, noises, it's all loud, too loud.

A couple having an argument in the village, kids yelling with excitement and energy, Mirabel and Camilo pranking Luisa, Tia Julieta cooking, bees attacking Tio Agustín, the mysterious voice in the walls.

Loud loud loud, everything too loud, too many sounds.

I was sitting in the far corner of my soundproof room, covered in blankets and pillows in an attempt to muffle the chaos going on all around me. But nothing helped. The more I thought about all the sounds, the more I tried to push them away, the louder they got.

How did you forget our anniversary?!

My breathing was sharp and uneven. Let's play hopscotch! My chest felt tight. My heart was pounding. She won't know what's hit her. I felt like I needed to vomit but I hadn't eaten anything today.

I tried to yell it out, to make the panic inside of my out through my mouth. I didn't care if it broke my vocal chords, I wanted to get rid of this feeling.

The sizzle of something cooking, the buzz of bees.

I didn't think anyone could hear me, the walls were soundproof.

"Shh, shh," a voice behind me said.

That voice... I recognised it. It's the voice i hear in the walls.

"Who are you?!" My voice came out sharp and worried.

You two are so annoying!

"I... I'm not here to hurt you, alright? I just want to make sure you're safe."

Not knowing who this was made everything worse. The fear was still there, but I quickly turned it into anger in my voice. "But who are you?!"

The voice paused. "You'll find out, I promise. But right now, I want you to do something for me."

"Why should I do anything-"

"Because," the voice became louder, but only by a little. I don't want to play anymore. "You're a good person. Now please, it might be difficult, but please breathe for me. In your nose, out your mouth. However long or slow as you would like."

"O-Okay," I croaked.

In my nose... out my mouth. In my nose... out my mouth. In my nose... out my mouth.

Agust- bee sti...? Let m- heal...

"Keep doing that for me," the voice continued. "But now, if you can, tell me some things you can see."

"Okay..." In, out. "My bed... my hands." In, out. "Blankets... dress... roof." In, out.

"Great job, you're doing great, Dolores. Close your eyes for me," I closed them. "Now picture yourself in a place that you feel at home with yourself. What do you sense around you: smell, feel, touch."

"Arepas, lots of them. And... fresh air... I have a sense of contentment."

"Wonderful," the voice sounded pleased. "Stay there for me. Just keep on telling me everything you're experiencing."

Not sure- marr... love...

"I hear the faint twittering of small birds, there's a breeze on my face. I see a... I see the family, but everyone's there, all completely happy. Abuela, hugging a joyful Mirabel, Camilo, Mom and Dad, Agustín, Julieta, Luisa, Isabela and..." I paused. "And Tio Bruno."

I sighed. "That'll never happen. Isabela's too full of herself to be there. Abuela won't look at Mirabel the same after her gift ceremony. And- and Bruno left. He's gone."

"You can't know that," said the voice kindly.

But something was different... the voice wasn't behind me anymore. It was... beside me?

A hand rested on my shoulder, and my eyes snapped open. I turned my head to the left, and there was...

"Tio Bruno??"

He hadn't changed much in three years, just a little thinner and a few grey hairs here and there. He was smiling softly, but sadness was in his eyes.

"Yeah, it's... it's me," he whispered. "I... you probably want me to leave, but you were in a difficult place and I couldn't bear that. I didn't want you to be alone."

Silence. Then, without warning, I was hit with a wave of emotion, which spilled out my eyes in the form of tears. Bruno was here, he had risked being seen by Abuela to calm me down. He still cared about the family, he was so kind and caring.

He wrapped his arms around me in a hug, and I cried into his shoulder.

"Shh, shh, shh," he whispered, reminding me of falling sand. "It's alright, I'm here, shhhh."

I hope you liked that :]

I thought of it cos I saw a head canon one time that like whenever Dolores has a panic attack, Bruno's in the walls and tells her sh sh sh to calm her down, which is where the 'I associate him with the sound of falling sand, sh, sh, sh' comes from.

And I really liked that and it worked kind of as a part 2 for the first one so I went for it :D

Any who if anyone has any oneshot requests, comment them at any time! Just nothing mature please, and preferably not x readers cos I've never written one of those before and it's just not my style. Anything else I'll give a shot though!

Have a gay day!!
