The barracks of the 104th battalion were unusually quiet as you walked down the main corridor. The wolf pack was rightfully exhausted from their last mission, and they slept heavily. You were supposed to be in the medical wing recovering from a blaster shot to your right shoulder, but there was someone you needed to explain things to before you could officially rest. You were becoming lost in your thoughts as muscle memory began to take over to get you to your destination. You were so ensnared in your thoughts that you didn't see someone rounding the corner and you collided into them, knocking you to the ground.
" Commander! are you okay? I didn't see you." came Comet's voice from above you.
" Im okay Comet, it's my fault. I wasn't paying attention." you replied as he reached a hand out to help you up. "Have you seen Wolffe?"
"Possibly, but i think you need to return to the medical wing, before he has a bounty on both of our heads." He let out with a small laugh.
A loud huff escaped your lips before you spoke, " I'll just keep looking."
Comet stepped in front of you, not allowing you to pass by him. " Last I saw him he was getting some caf, but he won't be happy to see you disobeying orders from the medic." His lips curling in amusement.
" Its not the first time, I just need to speak with him and he won't answer my comms." You let out with a huff and tried to push past him.
He lets you pass with a small smile, " Don't come crawling to me when he goes for your head."
You ignored his comment, if only he knew how close you actually were to his Commander. Your legs led you to the mess, in hopes that Wolffe had decided to finish his caff there. As if on cue, the man of the hour was sitting at one of the tables, glued to his holopad and sipping on his caf. Approaching him slowly, your heart rate increased steadily as you got closer. Sitting down next to him you released a small sigh, " you didn't come see me in the medical bay." your tone as soft as you could make it. Wolfe always came to see you when you were in the med bay.
"You shouldnt have been in there in the first place, it should have been me." He let out gruffly, his eyes never leaving the holopad in his hands.
You leaned your head on his shoulder and he seemed to relax into your touch. " I made a choice Wolffe, and I would make it a thousand times over if it meant i could still see your face everyday."
He let out a quiet sigh, " I am meant to protect my Jedi, to protect you and I failed. You got injured again because I wasn't fast enough. I should have taken the shot, not you Meshla'.
You raised your gaze from Wolffe's holopad to his face, reaching your hand up to cup his cheek in your small hands. " The wars not over, I'm sure you'll get another chance to take a bullet for me." a small chuckle escaping your lips as you spoke. Wolffe let out a small chuckle and took your hand in his, placing a delicate kiss on your knuckles.
" You know I can't stay upset with you for long, I just don't want to see you get hurt again." He pressed his lips to your forehead before you could respond, holding himself there for a moment to soak up your scent.
" I know, we all have a duty in this war. I lo...." You're sentence was cut short by Sinker and Boost entering the mess hall.
Sinker made his way over to the table while Boost was prepping the caf machine. " Aren't you supposed to be in the med bay (y/n)?" sinker questioned with his brow slightly raised.
You were about to answer when Wolffe interjected, " I was just about to escort the little escape artist back there myself. We don't need the General out for all of us."
He stood up and motioned for you to come with him, his hand hovering over you lower back in case you were to fall. The two of you exiting the mess quietly, his hand never leaving from behind you.
Boost made his way over to Sinker and place two cups of caf on the table. " One day well catch them red handed and i'll win the bet" he huffed out at his brother.
"Wolffe's to obsessed with pleasing the General, I could see her not following her code but Wolffe wouldn't allow it." Sinker responded as he raised his cup of caf to his lips.
Boost let out a small huff, " You didn't see his face when she took the shot for him, theres something there I know it."
Sinker rolled his eyes at his brothers implication, " We all care deeply about the little pup, everyone in the pack was upset when they heard she was injured." his tone laced with annoyance as the two of them continued to drink their caf in silence.
