FIRST AND LAST I LIVE.

First and last I shall die.

The life of a Goddess does little to fill my heart, unlike the way a fire can slowly spread and give me eternal warmth. To every god, I love you dearly - my suitors Poseidon and Apollo, my sisters Hera and Athena, my nieces and nephews across all minds and forms.

I adore you, I do.

However, my place among you is one I have accepted out of duty, not of devotion.

There is something else more important to me: life.

Mortal life.

Ah. I see your faces, pale and aghast at my confession. But tell me, is life not worth living to you?

It is true that we exist forever in our kingdom of clouds but I think it is dull compared to the fleeting and minute life spans of the humans below.

Do you not see the way they laugh, my dear family?

Do you not see the way they fight and cry and love?

Full of passion.

Full of emotion.

The child-like displays of existence; it makes me chuckle.

And how long has it been since we have laughed with our chest and stomach?

For me, too long.

I hope you understand. We are not all that different from mortals because we feel and see just like them.

The weight of our world is on their shoulders

but they do not mind.

For they will be absolved of it in the end.

This is true peace, I find.

You see, I am often quite jealous of humans

for every moment could be their last.

💫 that's it folks! Thanks for reading :)
