I woke up, hazy, strapped into a chair.
I felt sick, and light headed. Teresa? She was draining my blood. I yanked my wrists hard but they remained in place."Do you know what this place is Y/n? It's a lifeboat" Janson said looking out the wide window at the burning city "and the whole world might be sinking but that doesn't mean that we have to go down with it."
"What are you doing?" I asked, my voice weak and shaking.
"Taking your blood"
"What? Why do you want mine? I'm not immune. You have no use for it"
"No you're not, but you're special Y/n, you always have been" He strolled around the room like a lion sneaking up on it's prey.
"What are you talking about?"
"You see, not long after you were born, you're parents decided to split up because they thought it would mean there was a better chance of survival, for you... and your twin"
My heart skipped a beat "Twin?"
"Your mother, took your brother, and your father took you. Raised you apart. Would you like to take a guess who your brother is, Y/n?" He walked up to me, practically gleaming with joy over the affect he was having over me "Thomas"
It felt like everything came crashing down at once. I've known Thomas nearly all my life, but I didn't know we were siblings.
"So after Teresa discovered your brothers special gift, she ran a few little tests for me while you were unconscious. As it is, you, happen to be a carrier of the gene, that makes Thomas's blood the cure."
I could hardly believe what he was saying, not just from the pounding in my skull, but it seemed almost impossible for this to be true. But if it wasn't true, he wouldnt have me strapped down to a chair draining my blood. He was telling the truth.
"But unfortunately for you, the gene offers you no protection, you just carry it."
"How is that even possible? To carry a gene to cure the flare but not be immune myself?"
"It's like the host of a disease. The disease lives inside you, and you can pass is on to other people, but it doesn't effect you. I was hoping for Thomas, but your blood will work just the same, we just need a little more of it"
"So you're just going to drain dry?" I thrashed against my ties, desperate to get loose and punch him in the face.
"Oh don't worry, we're going to keep you and your brother very safe when we get him. Is it done?"
Teresa handed him a full needle. He pulled up his arm to reveal black veins. I looked up at him in shock.
"To your health"
Teresa smashed a glass beaker against his head and he fell to the floor unconscious. She grabbed the needle and started untieing me.
"Thought you were gonna-"
"No, I realised to late- but we're gonna get out of here"
Suddenly, I saw Janson come up from Behind her. "TERESA!"
He grabbed a hold of her and flung her over the table, and she rolled over it and onto the floor. He grasped fist full of her hair in an iron grip, and she screamed in pain. I struggled with my bondage, desperately trying to get loose.
"Give it to me" He said "give it to me!"
He slammed her head onto a table and she fell to the floor.
Once I was free, I lunged at him and knocked him over, punching him in the face. I went over to Teresa and helped her up, grabbing her hand and running.
Janson had gotten hold of a gun and readied it to shoot, aiming right for Teresa.
"MOVE!" I pushed her out the way as he shot recklessly.
We managed to escape into one of the rooms, and catch our breath.
"We just need to-" Her eyes widened at the crimson dripping from my stomach "Y/n?"
I observed the blood on my hands, and my legs went weak. I tripped back and she ran foward, making sure I didn't fall.
"Here use this" she grabbed some tissues pushing them on my wound " You just- just keep pressure on it" Her voice shook as she spoke.
"You've gotta go" I said weakly, gulping at the end.
"No, not without you"
The automatic steriliser indicated Janson had came in the room. We quickly separated and hid in the darkness, all exept for the flashing blue and red lights.
"I admit Teresa, you had me fooled. I thought we were freinds. Maybe it's just in your nature... to betray the people closest to you."
He proceeded around the room, searching for us. I held the cloth to my wound, my back firm against the wall behind.
"Come on, let's not prolong this. We both know there's no way outta here, let's not make this any more painful than it needs to be. Y/n?...Teresa?"
I heard Teresa gasp and shuffle back on the floor. I looked around the corner to see what was going on.
"I think you have something of mine"
She stood up slowly and held the needle up for him to see.
"Not that. Where is she?"
"Just take it, leave her alone"
"You think she's special? She's a lab rat, she was born with a gift just like her brother, they never had to fight for it, they never had to earn it, they don't deserve it"
"Maybe. But it's theirs"
"What about you Y/n? what do you have to say about this? Thomas might not have been able to shoot her, but I can"
"I'm right here" I stepped out.
He smirked holding his gun to Teresa "look at you, are you going to play the hero of this little story?"
"What's the point of all this?" I threw my hands out in despair "All this fighting and obsession with winning and losing? We've all lost why can't anybody see that?"
"Not all of us is going to lose-"
"But you will" I threw a glass, which missed him by a good meter, hitting the glass window behind him.
He pointed his gun towards me smirking "Missed you little shit"
"Did I?"
The glass started crack, slowly breaking.
"Oh shit"
The two cranks from behind the glass burst out and attacked him. Teresa came over to me and helped me walk out.
