"oh."

max fiddled aimlessly with her hands, which were now starting to slightly tremble. el only smiled up at the red head, who was clearly nervous - el found her infuriatingly cute.
"i broke up with mike." el said with an anxious giggle. in all honesty, the brunette had been planning the break up for a while, and now that she had had an excuse to go through with it, there hadn't been much time to waste.
"oh." max said, a tiny smile creeping across her face.
"he wasn't as upset as i thought he would've been, i think he has feelings for someone else..."
"oh." max said again. images of a certain boy who would be ecstatic to here the news that mike was single again.

"is that the only word you know? oh? come on max, speak to me." el whisper-shouted. she was beginning to grow impatient, if hopper knew that she was out...
but max could only stare down into el's huge doe eyes, which seemed to sparkle, even though the moonlight leaking through the window was dim.

"please?"

the sound of el's plead seemed to snap max back into reality, and her heart started thumping with an unrecognised rhythm.
"well..." max began, but before she could get in another word, the sudden force of el's lips being smashed against her own was enough to put a stop to her heart altogether.

in that single moment, there was only el and max. everything else disappeared. just two girls, the moonlight, and the sound of a pair of hearts palpitating in a synchronised rhythm. el's small hands were exploring max's sea of red hair, as the max had her hands on the small of el's back. they were both completely hypnotised by the way their lips seemed to move in sync, and when el pulled away, all the love struck pair could do was gaze into each other's eyes. longing for more. but acknowledging that now probably wasn't the right time.

"does that answer your question?" el asked with a smirk.
max couldn't say anything, so she nodded. her whole body was trembling, and fireworks exploded in her brain.

"see you tomorrow then." and with that, el was climbing out the window. once she had reached the bottom, she looked back up at max. both girls had slight blushes on their faces, and as el waved goodbye and cycled away, max found herself unable to move. the kiss had demobilised her. the trembling still hadn't stopped.

out of the corner of her eye, max saw her alarm clock light up.
