Newt gently grabbed my hand and helped me stand up. I stumbled a bit but newt caught me before I could fall. "I'm going to show you around now," he said calmly. "Okay?"
I nodded my head, still unsure of the boy holding my hand. We walked out of the hut and into what seems to be a large meadow. There were small buildings and a large forest in a corner. The only weird thing was four huge walls around all sides, trapping us inside. There were door like openings on each wall that all lead to darkness.
"I know what you're thinking," Newt said from beside me. "You're wondering what's out there, aren't you?"
"Yeah, I guess." I replied. "What is out there?"
"A maze, monsters and walls that change at night. It's hell out there. That's what I'm told anyways."
"Oh,"
"Let's move away from that subject for now. Is there anything you wish to know?"
I thought about his question for a little bit before answering. "Is there anything I should know?"
"There sort of is. We've got three rules here. 1. Always do your part 2. Never, and I mean never harm another glader, we need trust in one another for this place to be safe. And most importantly: never under any circumstances, go beyond those walls. Do I make myself clear?"
"Crystal clear." I replied confidently.
"Good that. Now I'd like you to meet someone." As if on cue, a tall man with dark skin walked towards us. He gave off a figure of authority upon the others. "This is Alby, the leader of the glade. He was the original glader." Newt said, gesturing to the man.
"Pleasure to meet you, y/n." Alby kindly stated.
"How do you know my name?" I inquired, suspiciously eyeing Alby.
"Well, you have quite a reputation here being the only girl in the glade. All the boys know who you are." Alby answered.
"Good to know." I sarcastically replied.
"Now you need to get ready for tonight, greenie." Newt jumped in.
"What's happening tonight?" I asked.
"We're having a bonfire for you and your brother when the sun goes down. It makes the greenies feel more welcome here." Alby answered.
"And because there are two greenies then we need an extra big party tonight." Newt said.
