A protected love ~Newt and Y/N~ maze runner

Y/n pov:

I fell asleep after endless crying over my friend's banishment, newt fell asleep not long afterwards. It was a long, dreamless sleep until I was rudely woken up. I opened my eyes, expecting to see newt but instead I saw Alby and Minho.

I jerked back with shock and ended up waking newt accidentally. "What the hell are you two shanks doing here?" Newt groaned.

"Alby's coming with me into the maze today." Minho started. "We're going to investigate where Ben got stung yesterday."

"Okay." I replied.

"And why does that involve us?" Newt asked.

"Because I'm leaving you two in charge of the glade. You're both just going to keep and eye on everyone and give them a hand if they need it." Alby answered.

"Yay." Newt sarcastically said as he stuffed his face into my back.

"Anyways, we'll be off now." Alby said.

"See you shuckfaces later." Minho added.

I got out of bed and gave them both a hug and wishing them well. Newt finally decided to get up after they left and gave me a hug from behind. "Let's go bring the good news to those other shanks that we're the ones in charge." Newt said into my hair.

"Today's going to be an interesting one isn't it?" I asked.

"You never know." He replied.

~time skip~

It was starting to get really cloudy around lunch time and it began to rain while we were getting Fry's soup. We all rushed to get undercover and waited for the storm to pass. I was standing by newt and Thomas, who was being annoying as usual.

"They should be back by now." He yelled over the storm. "What happens if they don't make it back in time?"

"They're gonna make it." Newt was getting fed up with Thomas' nagging.

"Yeah, but what happens if they don't?" Tommy asked again.

"They're gonna make it." I said, echoing newt's previous answer. I was honestly fearing that Thomas was right and Alby and Minho were in trouble.

When the storm ended, everyone rushed to the maze entrance. We all waited impatiently for them to return. "Can't we send someone in after them?" Thomas asked.

"We can't." Gally said from beside me. "It's against the rules, even if they don't make it back. We can't risk anyone else's life."

Eventually I saw two figures emerge from around the corner. "Look!" I yelled in delight.

"Wait, no. Something's wrong." Newt stated worriedly from my right. I looked closer at Minho and saw that he was dragging and unconscious Alby. It was almost time for the doors to close and Minho wasn't going fast enough.

The doors let out their gust of wind and they slowly began to close. We all yelled at Minho to hurry and others yelled at him to leave Alby. Then it all went in slow motion. I began to run to the maze when I felt a pair of arms grab me. Thomas ran past me and squeezed through the doors and made it to the other side. I struggled against the person holding me, until the doors slammed shut.

I fell to the ground in shock and sadness. I had just lost my best friends and I couldn't do anything about it. I curled into a ball on the floor and burst into tears. I screamed and cried until my throat and eyes burned.I felt newt and Gally wrap their arms around me and their silent tears on my shoulders.

"Come on, let's get you to bed." Newt suggested.

"No." I said. "I'm not going anywhere until the doors open. I'll stay here all night until I know they're okay."

"I'll stay here with you then." Gally said.

"Me too." Newt added.

We all grabbed blankets and pillows and set up two little beds and tried to get to sleep. I snuggled into newt's arms and Gally immediately started snoring. I let one more tear in hope my friends were okay.
