Emelia dipped her quill into the inkwell once more, writing the last words of her Transfiguration homework.

"I really don't get why you use that ancient quill instead of a pen, Emelia."

The girl's oldest sister, Amber Clermont, lounged on her bed while thumbing through Emelia's newest Potions textbook.

The brunette tidied up her desk and laid the parchment away for it to dry. She turned to her blonde sister.

"It's mandatory, Amber. Besides, the wizarding world is still quite traditional in some aspects."

The blonde snorted. "You guys can bring someone back from the brink of death by giving them a," she narrowed her eyes at the textbook, "bezoar, but you still write with quills."

Emelia shrugged in response and stole the textbook from her sister's hands and put it in her trunk.

"I guess the wizarding world's just weird like that."

"Well, I hope that boys aren't as weird."

"B- boys?" Emelia stuttered.

Amber grinned mischievously, "Yes, Emelia. Boys. The opposite sex. The ones that don't have a vag–"

The brunette's cheeks coloured red as she slapped a hand on her sister's mouth to shut her up.

"I know what boys are, Amber."

The blonde raised a brow, "Are you sure? I mean, you start stuttering and blushing as soon as I try to explain them."

"I know how boys work, Amber. Do you? I mean, you're twenty already..."

Amber chucked a pink pillow in Emelia's direction. "I am perfectly able to get a boyfriend, thank you very much."

Emelia sighed, "Well, your chances are bigger than mine. The boys at Hogwarts are all idiots."

Amber grinned, "Guess we're lucky that you don't know how boys work, then."

The pink pillow got thrown back to Amber.

The Hogwarts Express bleated its horn as Emelia appeared on the platform with her trolley. As always, she saw parents hurrying their children onboard and tiny siblings waving goodbye.

The aisle teemed with students when she boarded the train. A couple of yards away, she saw three particular Gryffindors entering a compartment.

Suddenly, a copy of The Monster Book of Monsters crawled crab-like down the aisle, pursued by Neville Longbottom.
