Emelia followed Harry, Ron and Hermione towards Hagrid's hut, all the while Hermione ranted.

"I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak! It's too horrible."

"It just got worse," sighed Harry.

Malfoy, along with Crabbe and Goyle, lurked within a grouping of monolithic menhirs, binoculars in hand, spying on Hagrid who stood in the pumpkin patch, tossing dead ferrets to the hippogriff.

"Did you see the big, fat blubbering oaf? Oh, this is going to be rich. Did I tell you, father said I can keep the head–"

The blonde looked up and saw the quartet approaching him. "Ah. Come to see the show?"

Hermione breathed heavily and gripped the hard wood of her wand, all the while approaching the Malfoy heir, who started cowering away. "You foul, loathsome, evil, little cockroach!"

Malfoy stumbled back against one of the stones, cross-eyed with fear as Hermione jabbed the tip of her wand under his nose.

At that moment, Emelia really thought Hermione was going to attack him until Ron appeared. "Hermione! No!"

The muggleborn turned, surprised Ron had spoken to her. The redhead looked away, "He's not worth it."

Hermione nodded and slowly withdrew her wand from Malfoy's chin. She turned and started walking back toward her friends until Malfoy started laughing.

The girl turned back around with the speed of lightning and –to Emelia's surprise– landed a looping right to his jaw, putting him flat on his back. Stunned, he leapt to his feet and ran, Crabe and Goyle huffing and puffing behind.

Panting, still gripping her wand as if it was her lifeforce, Hermione smiled. "That felt good."

Emelia laughed loudly but quietened quickly as the seriousness of the situation dawned on her again. They were going to comfort Hagrid before Buckbeak was executed.

And thus, the quartet made their way down the slope and past Buckbeak, who was chewing on a ferret with idle satisfaction.

They entered the hut of the half-giant and saw him watching the Hippogriff. The boys and Emelia sat down while Hermione started making tea.

"Look at 'em. Loves the smell o' the trees when the wind blows..."

"I say we set him free," stated Harry.

Hagrid shook his head, "They'd know I did it. And tha' would only get Dumbledore in trouble. Gonna come down, yeh know. Says he wants ter be with me when it... When it happens. Great man, Dumbledore."

"We'll stay with you too, Hagrid," Hermione tried to comfort him.

"Yeh will not!" he shouted uncharacteristically, making Emelia jump. "Think I wan' yeh seein' a thing like this! No. Yeh'll drink yer tea an' be off. But before yeh do –I wan' ter see you an' Ron shake hands, Harry."
