Chapter 4, katelyn

I just couldn't take it anymore! Furry coursed through me. They just FREAKING insulted Elena!!!!
"Hey Elena!!! Nice shirt!! Oh wait... What's that? You can't hear me?" They all busted out laughing, "Katelyn take your deaf freak out of here! Why do you even hang out with her? There's no hope she'll get her hearing back, so why bother? Come hang out with us! We can actually HEAR you!" They sneered.
"Let the freak find her own way back!"
I couldn't take it anymore, I tried to ignore it, but they had pushed TOO FAR and they were NOT getting away with it! I strutted over, and the boy who had been talking smirked like this was exactly what he wanted. I grabbed the football out of his slimy little grip, threw it on the ground, and stomped.
I watched with satisfaction as the air seeped out of the giant hole she had just put in it.
"Y-you just popped my football!!" He looked a bit shocked, "my dad gave me that for my birthday! Ohhh... yours gonna pay for th-" but before he even finished the sentence I punched him in the jaw.

Oh my gosh. I hated him so much that I didn't even care that he fell down and broke his nose. I grabbed Elenas arm and started running before the other boys recovered from their shock.
"RUN Elena!" I yelled even though I knew she couldn't hear me, I'm pretty sure she got the message. we were half way back to her house when she pulled on my sleeve for me to stop.
"WHAT WAS THAT?!" She signed, even SHE still looked shocked.
"HE INSULTED YOU SO I PUNCHED HIM! COME ON!"
I signed and kept running. then Elena surprised me so much that I stopped dead in my tracks.
"Stop"
Elena had just talked! I knew she was taking speech therapy, but I didn't know that she could actually DO anything yet, so I just stood there gaping. If she was trying to get my attention, she had accomplished that.
Elena was signing desperately
"THIS IS WRONG. WHY DID YOU PUNCH HIM?" I was starting to get frustrated. Why couldn't Elena see that I was trying to PROTECT her from them?! Why couldn't she see that the guy was a jerk and he DESERVED to be punched?? Usually, people knew me as calm and collected. But right then, I totally blew up! And now that we were away from the park, I felt awful. I didn't regret it, but I still felt terrible.
And that's when I broke down. I sat down on a rock and started sobbing.
Elena looked shocked!
"WHATS WRONG?" She signed warily,
"I DONT KNOW!!!" I signed back and kept sobbing. your as bad as your parents! I thought miserably. No... What they did was more horrid then I could ever do... Right? NO! I you promised yourself that you wouldn't think about that Katelyn!
And then i was swept away in memories of all the betreyal, all the pain that i had felt when my "parents" told me about my REAL mom and dad. I was so broken, just sitting there, that I almost blurted out my secret that I had held the weight of for so many years...
