A few days later, I still hadn't got any texts from Katelyn. It had seemed like weeks since I last saw Katelyn, and now I was bored out of my mind! I had been practicing sign language, and oral communication, but that still hadnt been enough to keep my mind off of katelyn. why hasnt she texted me?!

I decided to go to the park, hoping that Katelyn would be there. As I walked down the winding road, I tried to imagine what it would be like if Katelyn was there. There were three things that might happen:

A. Katelyn saw me, and turned and ran away.

B. Katelyn saw me, came over and apologized for the way she'd been acting weird and told me she was still my friend.

C. Katelyns not there at all.

I strutted down the path alone, trying to look dignified. I wish Katelyn was here, I thought longingly. I stared at all the different picnic tables and kids running around. disappointed, i realized that none of them were Katelyn. I kept watching, hoping for Katelyn to run up to me and for everything to go back to normal. But deep inside, I knew that wouldnt happen. Katelyn had changed...

I was so lost in thought that i didnt see several shadows approaching me till it was too late.

I was shoved to the ground by a burly looking boy, who was now towering over me sneering. I couldnt hear anything, but I was aware of an aching pain in my side.

The boy kept smirking, and shoved me down again as i tried to get up. He obviously loved picking on the weak. He saw her as a target. A weak pitiful little girl who had nobody to defend her. Oh and dont forget the part that she was deaf. I tried to call for help, but I still couldn't talk very well, and we were in a corner of the park that only me and Katelyn visited. He kept shoving me down as i kept trying to get up, and soon a bunch of his friends showed up to see what was happening. They fanned out and made a circle around me and the boy and looked to be laughing historically, as i lied there crying.

why would somebody do this to me?! I thought desperately as he kicked my ankle, hard. I cried out in pain, and realized I was covered in scratched and cuts. I tried to get back up again, but it hurt too much to put weight on my ankle.

Then, I heard something. I mean I actually heard something!!! Something that made me hopeful, but I was still convinced that it was a dream. The boy shoved me down again with an evil laugh, that I heard! I started to wonder if it really was just an illusion, when the thing I had heard first came into view.

Katelyn ran up to the boy and punched him in the nose, and signed to me desperately, but i didnt bother trying to interpret it.

"Katelyn!" I said, and she looked at me in awe and signed: YOU ARE GETTING BETTER AT TALKING. As the rest of the boys ran away, their leader beaten.

"Aha, no Katelyn! I can HEAR you!!!" she looked at me in bewilderment.

"wait. You can WHAT?!" she practically screamed.

I didnt know how this happened. I dont know why. But i was so happy i beamed from ear to ear. I was also pretty freaked out too, so me and Katelyn walked home.

Together.
