Yami had been worried that things would be weird or awkward after they had kissed and had that talk, but thankfully they weren't. They just continued being friends, the same way they had been before, but now they just kissed at times or cuddled or held hands. It was really nice in a way. They were already so familiar with each other, it felt like nothing had changed or become awkward, it had all just gotten better. And they spent even more time together now.
Yami was barely ever home since they had become a thing. He was always going out, taking long walks by the beach with Y/N or staying at her new place, spending some time with her and her siblings. It was nice to be able to help her out with everything she had to do and he had a feeling that Hiroshi, her little brother, appreciated it, too. He was there for little Yuna's first steps, too, and he had never seen Y/N more relieved over the fact she didn't have to carry her around all the time anymore.
Y/N was also staying over at his parents' house sometimes, but there were always some comments from them, so they tried to avoid them, as much as possible. Or rather Yami did. Y/N didn't seem to mind so much, but Yami found it pretty embarrassing. Either way, they usually spent time at her place, especially when the weather wasn't really good or when it was already dark. Sometimes Yami stayed over at her place overnight, when it was already late.
He knew that people were talking about them, but he didn't really care all that much. What was the worst they were going to say? He was a guy, they weren't going to say anything terrible about him. And Y/N had assured him that she had heard it all before - especially when she first arrived with her siblings. A lot of people assumed that at least some of them were her kids for whatever reason. Maybe it was some general distrust of women living by themselves or of newcomers or whatever. Either way the confusion cleared up fairly quickly, but the names kind of stuck.
Yami didn't like the way people talked about Y/N, but there was nothing he could do about it, really. And Y/N assured him time and time again that it was fine and she was used to it and he shouldn't bother with them. He had no idea how she was so patient with all these people calling her a slut or a whore, but if she didn't want him to do anything about it, then he'd just have to leave it at that. No one ever called her that to her face anyway. People only called her names behind her back.
Y/N's siblings seemed to like him. That's the impression he got from them at least. Whenever Yuna was awake and crying, because she was upset about something, Yami somehow magically managed to calm her down. At first he had been a little uncomfortable about holding a literal baby - he was afraid that he might drop her or somehow hurt her by accident - but as soon as Yuna started to calm down and when Y/N gave him that look of absolute amazement, he loved it. It wasn't as bad as he had thought anyway, there wasn't that much he could do wrong.
Maiko took to him fairly quickly, too. She seemed to want to see her older sister get married as soon as possible, because it meant she'd get to wear a pretty dress, so when Yami showed up, she was over the moon, despite both of them saying that nothing of the sort would happen very soon. Maiko didn't care. She was in her own little world, trying to picture the absolute perfect wedding that they'd possibly be able to afford with the little money they had. It was kind of cute, even though Y/N looked horrified every time Maiko brought up either a wedding or money.
Hiroshi seemed pretty indifferent towards him at first until he started helping Y/N out as well. That's when he got Hiroshi's silent approval and it felt like he had honestly earned it somehow. Hiroshi seemed like he was much older than 13 already, but that was probably because he was responsible for taking care of everything while Y/N was away earning money. Yami knew that she felt bad about it already, but that there was nothing else she could do, unless they wanted to starve or unless Hiroshi went to work at his age already, which Y/N didn't want.
