Later that night, Hope snuck into her shared room with, Skylar, not knowing that the younger girl was already up reading a small book.
"Where you headed?" Skylar asked, making Hope jump.
"Why are you still awake?" Hope questioned, trying to change the subject.
Sky didn't even flinch. "Couldn't sleep. Where are you going?" She asked again more clearly this time.
Hope held up her wrist, showing a watch that a small blue sign glowing, was directing to somewhere. "Compass, leads to Landon. Now don't say a word of this to Dr Saltzman."
"Why are you even chasing after that hobbit boy?" Skylar rolled her eyes, knowing exactly who Hope actually wanted.
"He's not a hobbit, stop calling him that. Also, he's a friend. When friends need help, we help."
"Fine. But, you have to take me with you." Skylar stepped out of her bed, already wearing outdoor clothing.
"How did you- nevermind." Hope said as she led Skylar out and they snuck into Rics office, snatching the keys from the drawer and starting to creep towards the front door.
"Going somewhere?" Alaric spoke, making the both of them turn around. "Better questions, where the hell do you think you're going with my keys and without telling me?"
"Um, you know, I just said some really harsh things to you yesterday, and so I just wanted to get you an oil change as a peace offering."
Dr Saltzman scoffed. "At : a.m.? Hope, you don't have a driver's license. You were gonna commit grand theft auto, which is a felony. You're ditching school right before the midterm exams begin, and you've made it very clear to me that you see me as an authority figure and nothing more. So tell me, why shouldn't I suspend you this very second?" Hope held up her watch.
"And what is that?"
"It's basically a supernatural compass."
"Well, I hope it's pointing you to your room 'cause that's where you're going."
"I'm going after Landon." Hope told him.
"We." Skylar corrected, making Alaric give her a dirty look.
"If this thing is glowing, that means that he's in trouble."
"Then we're going, and I'm driving." Alaric held out his hand for the keys, which Hope handed to him. "And Skylar, is unfortunately staying here for midterms."
"That is unfair!" Skylar complained as Alaric shot her a dirty look.
"You came here just a couple weeks ago, and haven't studied since you left."
"Actually, I kept up with my studies ever since." Skylar assured. "Supernatural, and regular."
"You're still staying." Alaric said as Hope shot her a pitiful look, both of them walking off.
"Thanks a lot Hope." Skylar called after them.
"You're welcome." Hope waved as she continued walking away with Alaric.
Sky laid back on her bed. There was only a mere 30 minutes before she had to report to the commons for mid terms.
"Back again?" She laid up, seeing the shadowy figure place his hat on the stand.
Somehow, the hat was from a memory, one that was quite fuzzy.
"Of course. I'll come whenever you call."
About hours of testing, Skylar was finally finished with her midterms, and completely exhausted. She walked over to her bedside in her dorm, collapsing on the bed, and right before she closed her eyes, she noticed a small sticky note on the roof.
She slowly jumped up on her bed, getting high enough to snatch the sticky note from the roof.
Just in case you wanted to call Josie when she was gone. xxx-xxx-xxxx.
-Hope
"As if." Skylar turned to throw the paper in the trash, but stopped herself. This was her chance to redeem herself.
She pulled out her phone and typed the number in slowly, making sure it was the right one. Then hesitated over the call button.
Skylar could already feel herself overthinking, mind rushing through overwhelming thoughts. She moved her hand to scratch her neck, hitting the dial button.
"Shit." Skylar threw the phone across the room and into the carpet as soon as she heard Josies voice.
"Hello?" Josie questioned when she had picked up her phone, then heard a bump through it.
Skylar rushed over to pick up the phone, and pulled it to her ear. "Yeah, Josie, hey, hey." Skylar slapped herself mentally. Hey, hey? What person says hey two times?
"Oh, Skylar." Josie sounded a tinge dissapointed, making Skylar's confidence die down.
"Yeah, I was uh..." Skylar looked around for an excuse, her eyes landing on Hopes bed. "I was just calling to, uh, tell you that Hope and your dad went off to go look for Landon. Cause he's in trouble or something."
"Oh." Josie breathed out as her mother called from the kitchen. "I have to go, but uh, thanks for telling me."
"Yeah, okay. Bye." Skylar ended the call, flopping down onto her bed and groaning. "You're so stupid."
Josie, on the other hand, was delighted. "Mom, you wouldn't believe who called me." Josie called out to Caroline.
"Help me with the dishes, then you can spill." Caroline handed her a dish to dry.
"Ok, fine. But you have to guess."
"Uh...was it, MG?"
"Nope."
"The devil incarnate?"
"Ew, no."
"Lizzie."
"No mom, that's not exciting."
"I'm out of options."
"Ok, it was Sky."
"Sky Shadow? I loved her mother. She was like, really cool and stuff." Caroline smiled, remembering the time her and Erin had accidentally slammed a door into Bonnie's face, as well as the time when they scared Jeremy with Erin's wolf form.
"She was just calling me to say that Hope and dad were off somewhere, but-"
"What?" Lizzie stormed into the kitchen, steam blowing from her ears like a cartoon character. "Dad never lets us go anywhere, but as soon as goody two shoes Hope asks, they both go off to wonderland like we never existed." Lizzie rolled her eyes and plopped onto the counter. Caroline gave Josie a look.
"Seems like you have a crush on this girl."
"What? No-"
"Josie having a crush on Skylar?" Lizzie snorted. "As if. We both hate her and Hope Mikaelsons guts."
Josie felt hurt under her skin, but cleared it up by showing agreement, though Caroline could see right through her.
"Lizzie, cool down on the negativity and help us with the dishes." Caroline ordered as Lizzie plopped off the counter with a huff.
"Although, Hope is kinda hot if I'm honest." Lizzie muttered under her breath.
"Oh god, finally." Skylar walked up to Hope, who had just entered the school with Alaric and Landon, hugging her tightly. Hope wriggled out of her grasp.
Skylar slapped Hope's cheek. "You're so stupid. You could've called or texted, anything."
"Ow!" Hope groaned and rubbed her cheek softly. "I have a huge, huge story for you, and you wont believe it." Hope grabbed Skylar by the ear and dragged her off, leaving the two boys behind.
"Ow, little less harsh, stupid."
