I couldn't believe my eyes as Ethan led me into the garden, glimmering with fairy lights strung up against the walls and hanging from the trees. And what did I find smack in the middle of it all? A table for two, wine in an ice bucket, and a dish covered with a plate cover on it.
"Wow," bite me for saying, but it was beautiful. Nobody has ever done something so special for me before.
"Not so special you say?" Ethan asked.
"Oh, don't flatter yourself, it's not cute," I told him.
"After you my dear," he pulled out a chair for me to sit down, then he took out the wine bottle from the bucket, and poured the red liquid into my glass. Next, he took off the cover from the plate, and a hot pizza was underneath.
"Alright, you're pretty cool, I'll give you that," I said.
"That brings me great solitude, thank you,"
--
The pizza was fantastic, the wine was even better. I was having a great time with Ethan, and it was the first time that we actually had a one-on-one romantic date.
"Okay, so I've told you everything about me, now I wanna know some stuff about you," I said as I finished my pizza crust.
"Yeah, like what?" he asked.
"What do you wanna do with your life? I mean sure, being in some frat club is cool, but what about after you graduate?" I asked. Ethan sipped his wine with thought.
"Well, my dad wanted me to go into his law firm, but I'm quite sure if that's for me," he replied.
"Okay, so what is for you?" I asked him.
"Well, I like psychology, and right now I'm studying cognitive neuroscience," he explained.
"That's cool...now what the hell is that?" I asked.
"I study brain functions, and I'd connect it to human behavior and development," he replied.
"So, you like studying behavior?" I asked.
"Sort of, but yeah," he replied. I leaned over the table and rested my chin in my hand.
"Really? So you can read me?" I asked with a flirty smile.
"I can try," he said.
"Alright then, what am I thinking?" I asked.
"It doesn't work quite like that," he replied.
"Just fucking read me," I told him.
"If you say so Ms. Potty Mouth," he said, then he started staring me down, "From all this time that I've known you, you are a fiery young woman, very independent, and you don't want to seem weak in front of others. You're afraid of trusting people because they've been disloyal to you, especially the men in your life. But, you were willing to come out with me, because you find me interesting, funny, and very sexy," the last part he said with a proud smirk.
"Uh-no! You're wrong, you're very wrong!" I told him, "Everything before that was true though,"
"So, am I good, or am I good?" he asked.
"As much as I hate to admit it, that was pretty spot on," I said.
"Great, now I have a question for you," he said.
"Ask away," I replied. Ethan stood up and came around to my seat, then crouched down to my level.
"Did you buy that dress especially for me?" he asked with a whisper. He still wasn't letting that go, and I decided to play coy in return. I leaned in real close, like I was about to kiss him.
