New Year's Eve this year is a very special event. Today we will not only welcome the new year, but we will also be able to witness the knot of marriage between Julia and Jacopo.

Everything has been done to the last detail. I had taken care of everything. There was no indication that there would be a problem.

It was an early, lazy morning. The city was still asleep and Damiano and I were asleep. I was lying cuddled up to my naked chest and the man embraced me with his arm.

Out of nowhere, the doorbell rang. A whole cacophony of sounds that woke me up. What kind of idiot is knocking at our door at this hour. - I thought to myself while opening one eye.

- I am not getting up. Go open it. - I whispered sleepily to the boy who was also woken up by the persistent sounds.

- It is not even an option. Whoever is there will stop sooner or later. - he muttered. - Go to sleep.

There's no way I'd fall asleep to that annoying sound. I turned and looked at my watch standing on the bedside table, it indicated a few minutes before six. An inhuman hour.

- And will you ever want something from me. - I sighed and disentangled myself from his embrace.

I threw on the dressing gown lying on the floor and tied it around my waist. I also took my glasses because I want to see exactly the individual who dares to interrupt my nap for beauty.

I opened the door impetuously.

- What the fuck are you calling? - I asked, not noticing at first who was standing at the door. - You don't know what time it is.

- Lilith... - said the woman standing in the doorway.

At the threshold of my door stood Julka, who was crying. She was wearing a winter jacket, pyjamas and wine in her hand. She had to get out of bed, which means the situation is an emergency.

- Holy God. What has happened? - I asked in horror, thinking the worst. - Why are you not sleeping? Something with Jacopo? - I asked, trying to find at least some point of contact.

The brunette came in and sat down on the sofa.

- Give me the opener. - she said, crying quietly.

- No. Tell me what happened. - I took the bottle out of her hands. She won't drink at this hour and on her own wedding day.

- I called you so many times. There's been a tragedy. A huge tragedy. - She repeated over and over again.

I didn't know she was calling. I always have my phone muted, so calling me is pointless if you need something urgent.

- But what a tragedy. What are you talking to me about. - I sighed sitting down next to her. - Get the hell out of my face.

She looked at me with glazed eyes.

- The wife of the owner of this car rental company called me. They wanted to get them ready and they had an accident last night. - I listened to her with bated breath.

- But did he survive? - I asked.

- Well, he survived, but the car is completely destroyed. It is not drivable in any way and that is obvious. She said that they would give us the money, but what do I get out of the money? - She asked. - I am left without a car. We are not going to drive in some stupid Fiat.

I heard a rustle behind my back. I turned my head in that direction and saw Damiano stretching.

- But you have to respect the Fiat. - He said yawning, not having the slightest idea what was going on.
