More Than Your Gift (Camilo x Reader)

"That's the thing..It isn't a woman"

The table was silent for a moment before low rumbling was heard and droplets of water began to fall on the table

"H-He what?.." We all looked over at Pepa who looked like it was her turn to lash out.

Her light sprinkle turned into a hail in seconds "Pepa calm down!" Abuela ushered Pepa as the hard ice lashed down on top of us and everyone frantically tried to shield themselves.

Panicked birds and critters jumped over-top of the table which threw everyone into a panic and caused their gifts to go out of control.

Mariano's face was smashed in by a flower bud that Isabela had conjured by accident, and him and his mother quickly rushed out of the dining room

"Wait!" Abuela called out, Pepa was frozen with rage as Julieta and her husband tried calming her down

I ducked under the table bumping into someone who was already under it "Camilo?" I asked although instead of Camilo's usual curly hair and freckles his head was shrunken down to the size of an infants 

"Woah what happened?- Are you alright?" I panicked

"Uhh we're not gonna talk about this-" He said in a high pitched voice.

Suddenly the hard hail could no longer be heard, we took that as our queue to peek out from under the table

Pepa was no longer in her seat and loud distant thunder could be heard, me and Camilo looked at each other wide eyed knowing what was about to happen

"We'll have to wait for a nice dinner another night, let's go!" Camilo said grabbing my hand and running out of the dining room to the stairs of the casita.

Pepa was engulfed in rage heading over to Bruno's room "Oh this isn't gonna be pretty" Camilo looked at me with worry and curiosity on his face

We snuck up the rest of the stairs trying to find our way to Bruno's room when I felt someone grab my arm and I was yanked into a room

"What the-" "Shh!" Dolores shushed Camilo and had a concentrated expression

"She's listening to what's happening!" I thought to myself, we watched Dolores's face turn from worried...to disgust? To shocked in only a matter of seconds.

A few chuckles came from her mouth 

"Dolores spill it, What's going on in there?" Camilo asked eagerly 

"Bruno had somebody in his room! And uhm things happened, mom yelled at him for not telling her.... It's hard to understand because she sounds muffled through the walls of my room" Dolores said nervously 

Me and Camilo looked at each other and snickered at the fact that Bruno was involved in some kind of secret relationship that caused him to get yelled at by his older sister.

"So- Who's the lucky lady Dolores?" Camilo asked as his laughing came to a stop

"That's just the thing it isn't a woman" Dolores said looking at us wide eyed

"What?!" Me and Camilo yelled at the same time immidiatly covering our hands over our mouths, Dolores wincing at the sudden noise

"Yeah appearently it's some guy from town" Dolores continuted while fidgeting with her fingers

"Uhh well no shame, I just never thought Bruno would be-" Camilo then made a weird expression like he couldn't process what was happening

"Uhm is it best if I..Leave?" I asked awkwardly

"No! It's uhm-we should check on the adults first" Camilo said quickly

"If you leave everything will go to-" "Let's just say Abuela is calmer when we have company over, my mama on the other hand she... isn't afraid to be expressive" Dolores said heading for the door.

As she opened the room she peeked out and looked both ways out of the door then motioned me and Camilo as a queue for us to exit the room

When we stepped out of the room I glanced at the floor which was now flooded with water

Camilo then looked at me with a worried expression "On second thought maybe it's best if you weren't here to witness what's about to happen, How about I fill you in tomorrow instead?" Camilo said quickly leading me down the stairs trying not to slip on water on his way to the door.

"Wait- are you sure you guys are-" "YEP everything is gonna be just great! Just fine- See ya!" He said quickly closing the door behind me.

I stood there for a minute staring at the door just trying to process what had happened, not only that but also what was going to happen to the Madrigal family, though I figured it was best to take Camilo's offer of filling me in the next day

Although he seemed frantic about his mother's anger so I didn't know whether or not to call his offer reliable.

Whichever way the situation went, I started my way back home down the semi-quiet streets again only filled with the sounds of late shoppers and gatherings 

"Although it wasn't a positive dinner it sure was a eventful one" I said to myself going through the events in my head one by one.

I remembered when Camilo said I was "trustworthy", huh we haven't even known each other that long and yet you can still say that?" I laughed to myself as I reached the path to my home.
