"Wake up!" Said Leaf, throwing your sheets off of your bed.
"What?" You said, extremely tired.
"We need to wake up early so we can get to Pallet town before night." Said Leaf, rolling her eyes. "We also will need to change out of these Team Rocket uniforms."
You nodded and stood up from your bed. You placed your sheets back onto your bed neatly, and exited the room with Leaf, going down the stairs to the main area of the Pokémon center.
"Thank you!" you said to Nurse Joy as you followed Leaf out of the door.
Leaf said not much as you two walked down the path. Your legs were sore from all the running from yesterday, and you felt like Leaf felt the same. Leaf stopped at a house with a clothesline in a fenced backyard.
"Over here." She said to you, climbing up the fence.
"What are we doing?" You asked, for some reason following her up the fence.
Leaf hopped over the fence and went to the clothesline. She looked over to you, who is struggling to climb up the fence. She sighed.
"Need help?" She asked, putting her hands on her hips impatiently.
"No, I'm fine." You said, jumping down from the other side of the fence.
Leaf jumped up to the clothes hanging from the clothesline and pulled down a light blue t-shirt. She slipped it on and told you to do the same. You jumped up to reach a red sweater with a Charmander on it. You put it on over your torso. The shirt went all the way down to your knees.
"It's kind of big..." You said, looking over to Leaf, whose t-shirt was down to her knees, too.
"Just deal with it, it's better than the uniform." Said Leaf, placing her uniform onto the clothesline, you doing the same.
"Come on." Said Leaf, already hopping the fence.
You ran after her, hopping the fence too. You think you now have the hang of hopping fences and stealing other people's clothing. You followed Leaf down a dirt path, the dirt kicking up onto the back of your legs.
"Are we almost there?" You asked Leaf, becoming tired.
"I don't know, but I think so." Leaf replied.
You looked around the terrain, admiring the grassy fields and the butterfree flying around. It was a peaceful sight. You felt the breeze go through your hair... You haven't washed your hair in a while. You hoped to get a proper bath. It has been almost a week.
You and Leaf followed the dirt path into a forest of trees.
"Where are we?" You asked, looking around. You saw many Pokémon frolicking around happily in the forest.
"I... I don't know..." Replied Leaf, becoming anxious. "I thought we need to follow the path to get to Pallet town..."
"Then let's continue following the path." You suggested.
"Yes, but we might get lost." Said Leaf, crossing her arms.
"But aren't we already lost?" You said, feeling dumb.
Leaf paused and looked around. "I guess..." She continued down the dirt path. "Let's go, then."
You nodded and followed her. You two were walking for about ten minutes down the path, and you still haven't found an exit to the forest. You then heard a noise of wings... And footsteps.
"Help me!" Said the voice.
You looked to Leaf, who probably heard the voice too. She was looking around through the trees to find the voice.
"This way!" Said Leaf, leading you into the trees.
The two of you found a man with brown hair and beard, wearing a white lab coat. He was being chased by an angry Pidgeotto.
"Help me, please!" Said the man.
"Uh- Okay!" Said Leaf, throwing her poke ball into the air. "Go, Venasuar!" She said when a blue light appeared out of the ball and let out a Venasuar.
"Use Vine Whip!" Commanded Leaf, pointing to the Pidgeotto.
Venasuar extended its vines from its body and scared away the bird Pokémon, making the man be able to catch his breath. The man walked up to you both.
"Thank you for saving me, I get into these situations many times!" He said, thanking you and Leaf.
"It's no problem." Replied Leaf. "We really have to get going now."
"Oh, uh, okay." Said the man. "Where are you going? This forest is huge and I can possibly help you find where you need to go!" Offered the man.
"Oh!" Said Leaf, turning herself to the man. "We are going to Pallet Town."
The man scratched his chin. You don't think he was from around here.
"One second." Said the man, as he pulled a map from his brown bag. "Ah I see! Pallet town!" the man grinned.
"I am heading to Pallet Town, too!" He said.
"Really?" Said both you and Leaf in unison.
"Yeah, I have a meeting with the professor that lives there!"
Leaf gasped. "Professor Oak?" She asked.
"Yes!" He spoke. "Have you met the professor before?" asked the man.
Leaf nodded. "Yes, I got my Pokémon from him when I was ten." She spoke.
You then spoke up, curious about the man. "Are you a professor too?"
The man grinned. "Indeed, I am! My name is professor Birch!"
You and Leaf turned your heads to each other, looking at each other in confusion. Who was this guy named professor Birch?
"Say again?" Said Leaf, confused.
"I am professor Birch, the professor of the Hoenn region!" Repeated the professor.
"Oh! I see." Said Leaf. "I haven't heard about you before."
The professor laughed at Leaf's comment.
"It's fine! Now let's go, I have a map so I can show you two the way to Pallet Town!"
