The baby had been abandoned. That much was obvious.
They didn't know what to do at first seeing a baby in a trash can.
It- no, she had been gently wrapped in a soft blanket and placed in a position which would have been easy to locate and see. They couldn't understand the thought process of the mother who did this.
"You can't take care of a random baby you found in an airplane's trash can!"-???
Her voice was enough to wake up the small boy sleeping peacefully upstairs. Although they both didn't seem to have noticed it.
"I know it's going to be hard... But we can get through this together. Just like we did with Allen."-???
His voice was gentle and soothing. He knew that his wife had been through a lot these days and felt that a baby might be a bit too much for all of them however, he couldn't see her being abandoned a second time. That soft smile that appeared whenever she saw his wedding ring, that small giggle that left her still growing mouth whenever he would raise her up even a little, how could he even think of abandoning this child.
He knew that this might be a rash decision but it had already been made.
"And how do you suppose Allen will feel about this?! A baby girl just coming out of nowhere, into his life? And we, as his parents, will be saying that this thing is also our child?!!! You know how insecure he is!"-???
The young boy hiding behind the door flinched at her loud voice. He was trying to hold back his tears as soft sobs escaped his lips. He noticed someone else crying at the time too.
The baby had been crying ever since the ordeal began.
He pitied her for having to listen all of this yet couldn't help but be disdainful of the fact that he would have to share his parents with her.
"Let's do this then, we can let John and his wife take care of her till we're financially stable enough to adopt her."-???
His mother finally seemed to have calmed down. However he frowned at the baby being given away. Maybe he shouldn't have imagined him hugging her and taking care of her. It made him feel happy, even if for a moment.
He tip-toed his way back to his room. The rest of the night being as quite as the wolves on a full moon night.
The next day, he didn't see nor hear the baby anywhere. However, he did get told he was going to have a baby sister soon.
He was happy.
[Time skip: 2 years]
Time had passed by rather quickly, it had been more than an year since Prerna and him met. They were quite close.
He would read and watch all of her favorite books and TV shows together with her. He would scold her, play with her and even introduce her to his friends.
He loved it whenever she giggled at him bragging about himself or his father.
That small laugh seemed to always brighten his mood.
"You can do it Prerna! Come on, say 'I love you'!"-Allen
He seemed quite energetic and enthusiastic about this. He kept saying 'I love you' in hopes that she would finally be able to copy him.
"I- I... Move lou!"-Prerna
She laughed as she said that. Maybe finding it a bit funny to say.
However, she could only reach out her tiny hand towards her brother's cheek in order to wipe his tears just like he does whenever she cried.
"No, no. No gry."-Prerna
Her small face had turned into a frown as her hands tried again and again to wipe his tears. She couldn't understand why he was crying. But she knew that she didn't like it.
"W-who's crying? I'm not crying! Your the crybaby."-Allen
His face turned into a pout as she looked away from her, but his mother could only giggle at the big smile he had on his face and small teardrops on the verge of falling down from his eyes.
"You really are our prerna."
She moved towards the two siblings and informed them that it was time for Prerna's nap time.
[Time skip: 18 years]
They were both adults now. Their parents had passed away quiet unexpectedly. They cherished every single moment they had with them.
They both had learned to be independent.
"I'm gonna be fine! It's not my first time driving. Just you wait, I'll be there to pick you up from work in a second."-Prerna
She was so excited to show him the present she got for him.
<"She's going to die at this rate!!!!">
"I wonder if he'll like the present I got him."
She hummed, knowing full well that she didn't have a single thing to worry about. She knew just how it would all go.
<"Faster!!! We need to get to the closest hospital!">
She would go in his office, find him tiredly doing all of his paperwork and then suddenly stand up at her arrival.
<"SH*T!!! We're not going to make it!!!">
His brown eyes would be completely focused on her as he would quickly run up to her and ask her if she made it over ok.
<"Her brother tried to kill her, right?">
She would tease him about being too much of a worrywart and then they would both walk to a nearby restaurant to have lunch together.
<"Apparently, his brother was a mental patient before and tried to stab her when she was a kid. He thought that they both should die along with their parents.">
They would hug once to let each other know that they aren't alone and then happily eat their food.
<"Do you think that's the reason why-"
"Watch it. He's right there.">
Today though, instead of going back to his office he could home with her.

His body trembled as he kept his face down. He never stopped crying yet not even a single noise left his mouth.
"You killed her, Mr. Allen."
