[A/n: I had an idea...]
She didn't know what to do when she got the idea to annul her engagement. On one hand, it would completely free her but on the other hand, she really wanted to see it all happen up close. Perhaps she could wait till he came and then make her decision.
She hummed a little song as she quietly sipped her tea. She'd waited for so long, waiting for another year wouldn't hurt.
"Milady, the madam is requesting your presence."
She glanced at the maid before she waved at her to leave. The maid did as told and couldn't help but sigh in relief when she stepped out of the young miss's room.
Although the miss would never raise her voice, much less beat anyone like some other nobles, but it was still terrifying to be in the same room as her. They all knew how the miss had gotten one of the dukes to come personally and apologize to her in front of everyone when all he had done was make a few rude remarks about her.
But that wasn't the only reason to be afraid of the miss. The miss had this slight aura of death around her that made everyone fear her.
Of course, nobody dared to say it anywhere near her.
"How come you still serve that frightening woman?"
Linda, the marquess's personal maid, had always found the young miss to be scary and wasn't shy to say it.
"Have you seen the pay Ms. Linda to serve her? It's almost as high yours nowadays. Not only that she randomly gives out old pieces of jewelry which cost at least thousands. And aside from the fact that she's cold she doesn't do anything much. How can I not serve her?"
Luciana sighed slightly when she heard her maids talk about needless things again. Being the young miss of a marquess had it's blessings but sometimes it was too much to always hear people gossiping around in what was supposed to be your home. She guessed it came with being born as a noble.
--- --- --- --- ---
Time passed by and she could feel that she had made the right decision to not annul her engagement. Pesky nobles stayed away from her and even though a lot of rumors flew she didn't really care about them at all.
Her smile soon turned into a frown when she saw her soon to be husband go in the slum area of the Henituse territory. She motioned for her maids to set her stuff inside the territory and give the gifts to the respective receivers before following after Cale.
She did not like his drinking habit at all. She had heard of the many rumors about him, courtesy of her father and mother, and she had usually laughed them off as she knew he had never actually hurt anyone. She knew he couldn't even hurt a fly. But she was still a bit concerned about his addiction to alcohol.
She wondered if the reason he was going to the dirty place was because he had drunk too much again and had lost his sense of direction.
Sighing, her frown turned deeper when she saw him feeding bread to a tree. He had fed some cats before which she thought looked a little cute but... Feeding a tree... She thought that perhaps she should visit a doctor. Maybe she had started hallucinating or was sick.
She froze when she made eye contact with Cale. She noticed that he had frozen, likely from shock, as well.
To the cats it looked a bit comical but to Luciana and Cale the situation was far from funny.
