"This old empire path one led to the previous settlements of the Pokoda people, before they moved further up and build the kingdom where it is today. The Shintu tribe then settled in after them, as they continued advancing, trying to get you back in a predator hunting prey method. Due to the chase down and the tussle for you Amasa, a beautiful empire was torn apart and kingdoms were redefined. Father could not bare to see the remnants of the old Pokoda settlement, so he tore it all down and started anew, building near the Pokoda kingdom in order to take you back. He dedicated his life to planning for your retrieval."
I kept quiet, not sure if I wanted to assimilate the information that I was being told.
"Your full name is Amasarudza, meaning the 'one that you have chosen'. It breaks my heart that you grew up on your nickname, as you were introduced to Toga and Chioneko by that name before they kidnapped you, not keeping their end of the treaty."
Internally fuming, I answered back at Runesu.
"So, I was the 'chosen one' to replace borrowed grain in drought?"
Runesu scowled at me, showing all her inner aggravation on her face, a level of emotion that I had never witnessed from Runesu before. Menhe kept quiet, not wanting to intervene.
"Did you not hear a word I said Amasa? It was way more complicated than you think, people were dying!"
Runesu held her ear to exaggerate her speech, as if it would change my outlook on the situation. She continued her rant.
"The Shintu tribe was dwindling by the day, and father had no choice but to sacrifice his youngest daughter to show his purest intention to pay back the Pokoda kingdom, you were born in the most perfectly convenient time! Narufu saw you as a blessing, the highest form of validation to show Toga that he would keep his word and not flee."
I was honestly not moved at all with this conversation.
"Did I choose to be the chosen one? Did I pledge myself to always be sacrificed for everyone else's problems! Do you hear yourself Runesu? Do you not see the lack of a life I lead in both kingdoms? Just because I am barely seen as a human, only an owned possession of convenience to push agendas, if you really were my sister Runesu, you would have understood that!"
Runesu frowned.
"Maybe you are the chosen one Amasa, The chosen one to be selfish and view everyone else as a nobody eh! So, you think that my life was not consumed by all this as well? That I chose to live under the shadow of your absence and couldn't have a normal childhood in royalty! Seeing father enveloped and obsessed to get you back, unable to show me and our siblings any love? Do not be so selfish Amasa!"
I felt the pain in her voice from the quivering shriek that came with it as Runesu shouted at me.
"You know that I didn't mean it like that but..."
"Shut your mouth Amasa! It is finally my turn to talk! Let me talk because I never have!"
Runesu was out of breath. I remained silent.
"I am your older sister! I am the one that had to live as a common servant and wait on you in the royalty that I was meant to be swimming in! You hurt me so much because you never see anyone else's problems Amasa! Why is it always and only you that suffering in your head? It is only you that gets depressed and is trapped in a life they do not wish to lead? Is it only you that deserves to be loved? We are all facing the same predicament in our own forms Amasa!"
Runesu walked a few steps away from me before throwing herself to the floor making a loud thud, folding her legs beneath her and cradling her head in her hands. I understood that she was upset but she was being overly dramatic. I gave her some time before I responded back.
