Emma's POV
The world around me seemed to glow with a sheet of whiteness; blanketing every surface I could see. From where I was standing, many beds were aligned accordingly in a long, hospital-like room. There were children everywhere, laughing, giggling, telling secrets to one other...
...except for one.
Down to the very back of the room, where hardly anyone was, was a brunette girl seated on the left bed; alone.
I knew how that girl was feeling. This looked a lot like a foster care centre, and these kids were all part of the system, silently begging for someone to take them in.
The girl also looked a lot older than the others, also something I too can relate. And so for these reasons and others, I went over to her and took a seat beside her. I turned my head to the left and met her beautiful, chocolate brown eyes.
Her face was a complete and total mask, that much I can say. But in those eyes... I could read so much more. In them, there was confusion, fear, uncertainty and anxiousness. It broke my heart to see a girl as beautiful and full of youth as her to have already been crushed by the world.
Nothing was said between the two of us for a while. We just sat still in our positions and read each others features. However, my curiosity began to build up on this girl...she looked an aweful lot like Regina. Sure, she was younger, but damn those features!
The girl was wearing a baby blue riding suit (not sure where those came from). But she also had chocolate brown eyes, brunette hair (albeit it is longer on this girl), olive skin, and that same cut lip on her face that just screams out Regina to me.
It was for these very reasons, that I asked the girl her name.
"O-oh." She had said nervously, "M-my name is Regina Mills. What is your name?"
"E-Emma. Emma...Swan?" However this came out more of a question, rather than a statement. This girl is Regina?!
I heard the girl giggle behind her palm. Was this really what Regina was like before.......she happened? If only I were able to go back in time again, to when Regina's love was still around. Then I could kill that...bitch of a mother and allow Regina to have remained this way.
On that note, I look past Regina and notice a leather bound book is resting to her left. Curious, I lift it up and ask her for permission. She seems hesitant, however Regina nodds anyway.
Inside I see elegant writing and beautiful, hand-drawn sketches that depict what type of personality Regina once had. As I go into more depth, I can see that the majority of Regina's ideas involve horses and true love.
Page by page, I flick through; scanning every little detail of the girl that barely exists anymore.
And then I stop.
On the very last page is a single phrase, hovering at the top of the paper.
'My Friends'
Not one person is on there. Not one.
Feelings gone haywire, I fiercely grab an ink pen resting on the bedside table, and write my name down.
It is just after I finish and smile up at Regina (who is now beaming with happiness), that I hear a large bell ring as it shakes the earth that I am standing on.
My eyes slam open to find light seeping into the already too bright bedroom. I begin to change for the day; Regina already folded my clothes neatly late last night.
I realise that I never got to say goodbye to Regina, however it probably wasn't even real in the first place. It was probably just a stupid dream.
Yeah, just a stupid dream.
