An ordinary, carefree, typical afternoon

Emma's POV

My shift had just recently finished, and man was I tired. I had been out on patrol all day, looking for the next villian to come waltzing in to what used to be the sleepiest town in Maine. But so far i've found nothing. Wasted time in my opinion. But anyway, after that I headed to Granny's to sit and have a hot cocoa with cinnamon, a grilled cheese, and a couple of bear claws. Me time. Finally. Henry was still at school, and her royal bitchiness was...well, who knows where she was. But it didnt matter that much, her majesty wouldn't dare enter a public area, least of all Granny's.

So for awile I sat happily eating away and wondering who the hell would be next to target Storybrooke.

Until I heard the doorbell chime. Then shortly after, those all too familiar soft clicks, clacking on the hard floor.

No way was it her. No way. She was the "queen". She didnt do diners at all. Nope. Couldn't be her.

But it was. Because fate had a way of intertwining her life with the Evil Queen.

Regina's POV

I was running late when it was time to drop off my little prince, Henry, and so I had missed the chance of squeezing in a quick coffee refreshment in which I have every morning.

On any other day, this would have been okay. But due to a postponed meeting that desperately needed to be addressed ASAP, I could not have my hot beverage until the afternoon.

And now to my next problem...my coffee machine broke down on today of all days. So unfortunately for me, I had been reluctantly forced to drag myself to that...if you could even consider it a diner, and grab a coffee to go. Not to mention in front of a whole room full of everyone I had intentionally cursed upon many years ago. Great. Just great.

Emma's POV

I stared dumbfoundedly at the woman who was currently talking to Granny about her order. Why was she here? Surely she hadn't come by choice. That would be preposterous.

Apparently my not so subtle look at her was seen by the mayor because she elegantly flaunted her way towards where I was seated and invited herself into my afternoon of peace.

"Greetings, Miss Swan. How are you and the town? Still in one piece I hope." She said with her sickly sweet tone that told you she was in sassy bitch mode.

Already tired and bothered, I didn't hold back on my language. "Cut the crap, Mills. What do you want? I'm kind of busy here imagining how peaceful this town would be without you in it."

One of her veins popped out on her forehead. "How dare you, Miss Swan. I merely wanted to see how you were, and to check up on how well you do your job. Which is clearly not very well, seeing as you were daydreaming about me just a few minutes ago." I was about to interrupt but she stopped me and continued her rant. "And another thing, Sheriff, be careful with my son. He unfortunately has your genes, and will run off wherever he pleases if not for a watchful adult. Apparently you aren't one of those, and need to be treated like a child instead. So you listen here, kid, if anything happens to him, you will be severely punished. And I will not hold back on you, Miss Swan. You can be sure of that."

With that she forcefully shoved herself upright and rushed to slam the door. But not before she muttered an "Oh and I expect you to arrive at my place by 7 o'clock sharp."

Once I was sure she was gone I exhaled a breath I had apparently been holding. So much for a peaceful afternoon, right?

I stiffened. Wait, did Regina say I had to be at her place by 7? Why did she...OH! Realisation dawned on my face. Henry! I am supposed to pick him up for my turn with him. At his adoptive moms' house. Which means I'd have to see the mayor again...

Yep...I was definitely starting to hate Fate.
