The second song is going by way slower than the first. I mentally groan as we reset again. At least this song is slow so it's easy to play.

Everyone turns around for the first four counts and we start running the song...again.

I find it funny the things I think about when marching. You would think I would be totally focused, but right now I'm just annoyed at people's ideas of spacing. Really Robby? Is that even?

Finally we get the first two songs down to Mr. Smith's liking and we're allowed to go to dinner.

Fern, Catie, and I walk together over to our spots and wait to march back up. Much to Fern's dismay, we're marching to drum cadences again.

When we get back up to the picnic tables and everyone is dismissed, ("You will meet back here at 6:30 to march back to the field.") Fern, Catie, and I trudge up the stairs to put our instruments away.

"Why don't we just stay here?" Fern groans laying down.

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!! Get upppp!" I whine dragging her up. "I think we're having spaghetti tonight!"

"You are so weird." She shakes her head at me.

"Yeah well." I shrug.

We walk back down the stairs and over to the rest of the trumpets.

"Alright here's the deal," Jackson whispers to everyone "drumline has clean up duty and we're going to sit at their table."

"Oh so we have a death wish, awesome!" Fern exclaims, rolling her eyes.

Jackson ignores her and stands up to walk in. We all follow like the obedient little "subjects" we are.

Once we all get our food, we move back to the last table. No one has sat down yet.

I don't know what we were waiting for, an alarm? A trap? Nothing happened when we sat down, but Jackson had the biggest grin on his face.

We eat without a problem until Connor, a senior section leader who plays the snare, walks in. He leans over to Isabel and whispers something, looking at us.

Isabel nods and walks over to us. "The drumline wants to let you know that if you don't leave their table before they get here, there will be severe consequences."

Jackson and Kyle exchange a look and smile. "Yeah we're going to get up." Jackson says.

We all stand up and throw our trash away.

"Well that was fun." Catie says as we move back up to our room.

"I have to admit, I wouldn't mind seeing Connor angry." Fern says grinning.

"He's so hot." Catie fans herself.

"He's an asshole." I shake my head.

"A hot asshole." Fern says and Catie nods.

"He's also a total ho." I frown.

"How would you know?" Fern asks.

"I just know." I shake my head again as we enter our room.

My older cousin used to be with Connor. He totally forced stuff on her...not sex but I don't doubt that he would've gotten there eventually.

"How much time do we have?" Catie asks bringing me out of my thoughts.

I glance at my watch. "Five minutes to be five minutes early!"

"TEN MINUTES! Just say ten minutes!" Fern yells laughing.

"Well if we take ten minutes then technically we'll be late." I point out.

Fern just shakes her head and gets her instrument out. Once the three of us have everything, we go back down to the picnic tables.
