An hour later I sat in my room staring at the ceiling. What even just happened? I kept looking at my phone to see if Jackson had texted me. Why was he standing so close? Surely he could have just told me. Maybe he does that to everyone.
I need to stop thinking about him, focus on everything else. Tomorrow there is a practice for the parade... I have to see Jackson again. Jackson and his dark hair and eyes... how it would feel for him to use those arm muscles to push me up against his truck.
What am I even saying?! There is no way that would ever happen. I don't even like him! He is just my section leader, nothing else. I put all thoughts aside and decide to try and sleep.
The next morning, I wake up and immediately check my phone. Still nothing from Jackson. Maybe I should text him. No that's a terrible idea. I put my phone down and go to take a shower.
When I get out, I walk back to my room and notice my phone is lit up. Could it be? I run over to check and sigh at the little Twitter icon. It wasn't Jackson. Whatever, no big deal, it's not like I like him.
Since it was only One o'clock now, I went downstairs to get some food. When I got down there, I noticed it was unusually quiet. Then I remembered it was a Monday and every one was gone. Practice wasn't until five so I got a bagel and sat on the couch to watch TV.
When four rolled around, I decided to go upstairs and grab my things. Catie would be here in about ten minutes to take me.
When I got upstairs I noticed my phone was lit up again. I knew better this time, it was just Catie saying she was here.
I grabbed my things and went back downstairs and out the door.
"Hi Boobear" I say getting in her dads truck.
"HAZZA!!!" she yells.
I laugh at our One Direction themed nicknames.
The car ride was altogether pretty uneventful, but the closer we got to the school the more nervous I got. When we pulled in, I saw his truck in his usual spot and my stomach clenched. He was already here. I took a breath and stepped into the fresh air.
"Thanks for the ride" I say to Catie's dad and I barely register his response.
As we walk into the school I keep looking everywhere to see if I can find him.
"What are you doing?" Catie questions me.
"Nothing." I shrug nonchalantly.
"You lying piece of shit! You're looking for Jackson!"
"I am not, would you keep your voice down!" I urge her.
"You like him!" she accuses with a smirk.
"Oh please," I roll my eyes, "I do not like him!"
"Okay, whatever you say!" she answers, obviously not believing me.
I laugh as we walk around the corner and I have to stop my eyes from wandering over to Jackson.
He was standing against what must be his locker, talking to Kyle and looking so dark and mysterious, like normal. How is it possible for one guy to look so hot?
I quickly looked away before someone started to notice my staring. Catie grabbed my arm and we bent down on the wall opposite of the lockers to get our instruments out.
Once we had everything together, including our lyres, (which we still couldn't figure out) we sat down and waited for instructions. Soon, the drum majors started walking around telling us all to get on the stage.
