He freezes momentarily and you notice that he doesn't want to have this conversation but you need it. You need to know who you used to be and what went wrong. He looks at you and your convinced that he's about to feed another subject change into the conversation but then he sees your face and decides otherwise.

He sighs and patts your back before standing up and going towards the door, he turns back to you whilst leaning again against the wall

"You were kind, and weird but ridiculously funny, you were the perfect person.

You wouldn't be afraid to go to anyone if they couldn't admit that they needed someone"

He pauses as he thinks about what to say next and you just wait for him to continue, trying to keep all of the information in your mind, imagining what it could have been like and feeling nothing.

"You always cared too much about the people around you rather than yourself but we kept you together as a returned favour for all of the times that you helped us"

You look up at him curious to squeeze what you could out of the conversation

"Where did i come from? where did i meet you all?"

His foot turns towards the door for a second subconsciously as if wanted to literally run away from the question but you again just waited for him to answer

"Your past..."

His pause and the look on your face told you everything you needed to know about how awful it must have been

"You turned up at out doorstep as teenagers asking for our help. It was you and two others that you had been close friends with you since you were young. Your home wasn't the best of places to be and neither was there's. They were twins and you used to live next door to them but a war broke out and a bomb hit your homes..."

"what were there names?"

you hadn't meant to interrupt but he was being so vague and that was irritating

"Wanda and...Pietro Maximoff"

You nod trying to find a sense of familiarity to the names but finding your mind completely blank. Not a single syllable in their names is recognisable, you nod back to the man so he can continue and you frown to yourself.

"You lost your parents that day and so did they but you three managed to survive. You grew up a little too alone and turned to some people who weren't...the best. an organisation called hydra. you, Wanda and Pietro had discovered them and they made it out that they were going to help the world and make it so that its for the better. You had nothing else. And so you joined them"

You look at him and raise your eyebrows confused and then scoff to yourself, wanting to burst out laughing

"I joined a cult ?!"

He laughs and for a second his face looked hopeful as if he recognised you in that moment. Your smile drops for just a second as you spot the glimpse of his face holding so much joy, as if he was looking at someone who he cared for more than any other whilst knowing deep down that that person if very much gone. You feel it sting, pulling at your heart a little as he smiles and continues

"No kid, you didn't join a cult they were this organisation of idiots who were trying to rule the world like every other villain story, they...experimented on all three of you giving you,

..abilities"

You feel like laughing at the sound of that and then realise that his face is completely serious and he isn't joking.

He's definitely not joking.

"Powers?"

"If you want to put it that way then powers. They turned you into weapons training you to kill, locking you away from the world in cells with a small tv, little food and not much care in the world if you were comfortable"

He stops and clears his throat indicating that that was all he wanted to talk about in detail and raises both of his hands with a smile that looked more like a smirk than an actual smile.

"You realised Hydra were wrong and you...left them."

"we left them?" you raise your eyebrows not convinced and you notice how much the man really wants to leave

"yeah you Wanda and Pietro found us here and well one, we couldn't just turn you down, two your...information on Hydra was information we're lucky we came across and you guys made pretty damn good additions around here"

You thought that hearing this conversation would answer all of your questions but you couldn't help but feel like he was still avoiding the actual answers you wanted

"are they still here? Pietro and Wanda?"

He clears his throat and goes quiet, you lift your legs up onto the bed to cross them, feeling the pins and needles already threaten your skin and watch to see how he seems to handle what your asking him.

"Wanda is, though she's not very social these days"

"And what happened to Pietro? did he move out?"

He turns away from you and opens the door again

"Pietro died a few months ago"

You go silent not knowing how to feel about what the man just said. Knowing from this information that clearly you used to know him and get along with him as if he was your brother, since you were kids and now he's dead. Your voice comes out in only a whisper now, in slight fear that you're going to upset someone

"What happened?"

The man sighs and doesn't turn back

"It's a complicated and long story kid, it's not my place to tell it

Instead, how about you come and get these introductions over with?"

You nod and stand up, quickly combing through your hair with your fingers realising you never brushed it.
