Once you get back to the tower you mope around for a little bit, giving yourself a tour of the masses of floors in the building, looking at every single one and when you get to the very top you notice it's pretty closed off and a completely white and empty room. You look over to the window and see its like a rectangle chunk is cut out of the wall and a thin piece of glass is for the window, almost like a bit of a hiding hole but big enough for someone to sit it.
You walk over to the window and sit on the ledge and bring your knees up to your chest whilst covering your hands with your jumper and wrapping them around your knees. You sigh staring out at the loud city and just sit there for a while, staring.
"Hey you"
You look up and see Scott standing in the empty room, smiling at you.
"Hey me"
He laughs quietly and then you look back out over the people.
He stands there hesitating for a moment before walking over to you and squeezing in opposite to you to sit in the window as well. You look up at him and smile at him and then look away.
"You want to talk about it?"
You sigh and keep your eyes focused on the roads down below so that you don't get too frustrated again. You shake your head.
"You can't actually tell me anything anyway"
He laughs lightly and looks at you apologetically.
"I heard you went on a road trip with Rhodey today"
You don't say anything about it and he looks at you for a second to see any sort of response. He's speaking in such a kind and gentle way it was making your heart ache with questions. You wish you could remember what it was like to be his best friend.
"You know he feels kinda terrible actually, which is surprising since he doesn't really show a lot of that much, he said he hated seeing you in such a state"
You raise your eyebrows and Scott laughs again
"Okay maybe he didn't quite use those words but it was what he was thinking"
You raise your eyebrows again
"Oh really hm?"
Scott laughs at you and you smile, watching the sun slowly fall.
"There it is"
You look to him confused and he practically smiles from ear to ear
"You smiled"
You laugh quietly at him and he chuckles as well. You both sit there for a few minutes more before looking up for a second
"Tell me about it"
Now it was Scott's turn to look confused, his eyes flashing for a moment as if in panic he'd forgotten something you were both talking about
"About what it was like. When i was still...myself i guess"
He scoffs and looks out the window now too.
"You're still you, i still see the old you even if this version is a little confused right now"
You smile and then close your eyes, resting your head sideways
"Just tell me what it was like, i want to know"
He pauses and then watches the sun go down whilst thinking.
"It isn't something you can explain, the way it was. Everyone together just laughing and smiling and you cracking up all sorts of nonsense jokes and me trying to follow. You know every time i would make a joke that wasn't as funny as i thought it was in my head, you'd still laugh. You'd make sure i wasn't embarrassed by my awful comedy skills and that someone was laughing. You had a connection with everyone, you loved them all as if they were your family from birth"
He cuts of laughing to himself for a second and you just sit, peacefully taking in all of what he was saying and imagining it. It's not bringing memories back but at least its creating a version of them in your head.
"Except Steve. You kinda hated Steve."
You frown whilst keeping your eyes still closed.
"Why?"
Scott laughs to himself again and you grow more curious
"He took the last donut with red white and blue sprinkles, your favourite, and it was all downhill from there"
You keep your eyes shut but still laugh to yourself at the thought, nudging him slightly as if to say not to tease
"it sounds nice"
You sigh and open your eyes, the sun has lowered so much that the sky is beginning to go dim, the sun beginning to fall behind the city below
You hear the elevator rumbling and you loom over as it doesn't stop until it gets to the top. The doors open and you and Scott look over at who it is.
You watch as Tony and Steve walk out of the lift holding some files that they clearly hadn't had the time to finish on their way up.
"Tony?"
You look at him and he sighs in relief at the sight of you and Scott.
"You know kid i was beginning to believe you got lost"
You smile and stand up
"I'm right here is there anything you need?"
He looks around the room and walks over to the singular lamp that is sitting in the corner. He puts his hand underneath and reaches for something inside, only to pull out a key.
You and Scott stare at him as if he is ridiculous and Steve rolls his eyes dramatically.
"That was your top secret hiding place really?"
Tony turns and smiles at Steve before holding out the key. He pats Steve on the back and you help Scott up out of the uncomfortable sitting position he was in.
"Well if your both done with your top secret keys you'll find me elsewhere or not because i could be asleep"
You nod at them both and walk to the elevator. Just as it's about to close you hear Scott mumble a question to them.
"Is that for her?"
"Yeah she needs it to get into Pietro's stuff to help clean out what she wants to keep of it all"
You put your hand in between the door and walk out again to where they are standing. They all turn to you and you walk back towards them silently figuring out a way to word the question
"Any chance you could let me do that for you?"
The instant disapproval appearing on Tony's face was enough to start your heart on a panic. You walk forwards, taking the key and file out of an extremely confused Tony's hands and you smile at them before hurrying backwards.
"Bye Scotttt!"
"Wait-"
"Byeee have fun!"
The lift doors close and you start going down, you notice they tried pressing the button on the top floor to open the lifts again but to your relief they failed miserably.
