You feel something hit your face and you wince as another does to. You instinctively raise your hands up and you squeeze you eyes open only to have them squinting again and blinking rapidly at the light. You see Sam leaning against the wall for a second, smiling at you and you drop your arms dramatically.
"What are you doing"
Your voice sounds groggy and tired clearly portraying the rough night it had been. you sigh dramatically when you hear how annoying it sounds.
"Throwing some acorns that I found at you until you finally wake up"
You can practically hear his smugness that he was the one to see you like this, all things considered it was basically a representation of what happened when Sam woke up hungover after enjoying himself a little too much at a bar with Bucky. You frown confused for a second, still rapidly blinking.
"Why are you waking me up"
You can hear his smile and you roll your eyes at him, he just stands there, acting innocent
"Because my friend, I am afraid that if you snore too loudly you'll bring the building down and the fact that you just happen to be at the top of the building kinda makes it likely you won't survive"
You grab one of the acorn shells he threw at you and aim towards him, you see him panic and move out of the way for a second which brings a smile to your face and his face immediately drops at the sight of yours, quickly turning moody.
"Besides...if you want to prepare yourself for tonight you should probably move from here and find a hairbrush"
He smiles at you and you roll your eyes, knowing that he's just trying to gain his leverage back, you're about to stand up but you realise something and stop
"What do you mean if I want to prepare for tonight?"
You see Sam's face turn into a state of panic and you eye him suspiciously as he fumbles around with his words. You start to feel a little sick at what is making him so nervous to say and it's not helping.
"Well, I was gonna leave this to Scott but he said he'd rather drown in ketchup, Scott hates ketchup so..Tony's throwing you a party."
You stay frozen for a second, completely processing what just happened and you look at him as if he's mad.
"You made such a big deal over a party?I hate this idea of having a party but Sam i thought someone's leg had fallen off with how dramatic you were!?"
You sigh a little in relief and also in dread at the thought of having to spend the whole night talking to people and acting like you're not kinda going out of your own mind with all of the crazy that's been happening.
"You hate parties. Especially when there about you and you can't just hide in a corner and be awkward around the masses of strangers Tony invites claiming to all be his friends from work."
You frown, beginning to realise how awful it's going to be but your mind is full with so many other things to frown about that this one night doesn't seem half as bad as it definitely should.
"I spoke to her"
It goes silent and you look up immediately in shock that you said it out loud, clearly not meaning to and you see Sam's face look confused, before slight shock and pity lye on his face. So he definitely knew she hates you. You sigh and lean your head back against the wall again and just sit for a second.
"When your mind went all over the place she had to help before your memories came back and took control of your brain-"
"No not then, well yes, i did talk to her then but also after as well"
He looks confused and then he walks over and sits on the ledge where Scott sat yesterday. You laugh at yourself and scoff, thinking about how stupid it was for you to ask her the damn question.
"She was confused as to why I came to give her the key and i told her i wanted answers, I asked her whether she hated me and she stood there, completely still, and just said yes. She just said yes."
You laugh again and turn to Sam,
"So yes, the idea of a party sounds annoying and frustrating but at least it's something to do instead of sitting here convincing myself that i am completely sane and normal when I have no idea what is going on"
Whilst his face does show some sort of sadness, his lips lift into a smile, knowing that you'd rather not dwell on it and just have it out in the open so that you aren't carrying it all on your shoulders
You smile and nod to yourself before swinging of the lead and walking towards the lift, refusing to further think about what happened until you're actually ready to come to terms with it. you feel something hit the back of your head just as you do, and the slow turn in complete shock as you greats Sam's smug face whilst holding an acorn in his hand fills your face with disbelief at his audacity
"I won"
You frown at him and just walk towards the elevator, seeing him coming and asking Jarvis to close the doors immediately as you watch, laughing as he attempts to get over towards you with a face of offensive as they close on him before he can
