“ he’s a bloody fighter ain’t he, never seen one like this eh Enie?”

“yeah He’ll do some gud some where.”

I fought and fought, I didn’t know where they were taking me but I kew one thing.

I had to be free.

The sea breeze drifted into my nostrils as we approached a ship.

Here the dirt beneath my hooves, wasn’t mine.

The birds in the trees didn’t call to me.

The wind didn’t lift me off my hooves and make me want to race.

This was alien, I felt worthless. I hated that so I reared. My hooves struck the air and foam from my mouth flew every where as they put that thing around me.

Restricting me.

All four hooves lifted off the ground and I was lost for a seconf in confusion.

No I was not going to be put on this, With a mighty scream, I kicked my legs out, bared my teeth and flattened my ears as I pulled and jumped around with all my new born strength.

This was my land, I owned it. They couldn’t take it away from me, They just couldn’t!

My heart.

My herd.

My life.

I drifted, on the sea away from them.

The boat landed with a thud and I let myself be taken down in wonder. This was a very strange place. Man walked around in packs like dogs, prowling the strange rock I was walking on.

I pulled back panicked, but I had to keep going or I would be caught in the sea of men.

Help! Help me! Suddenly every thing went dark and I froze.

“some one turn the lights on please!”

Light flickered into the room, and I saw it was very small.

“Welcome to America.” I heard some thing say beside me.

I pulled my head further up, finally getting frustrated. I threw my head up as far as I could and started bobbing my head up and down.

No! No! No! I wouldn’t do it. They tried to pull my forward, so I walked right over them, giving shrill whinnies.

They all came towards me so I swung around and kicked out in circles.

Some thing sighed and I looked up. “never trust a man to do a  woman’s job”

She grabbed the rope pushed them back and started stroking my neck. I tensed up. Something slammed from behind me.

I bolted forwards, into a small space. I neighed for help. I was stuck! Help! Help me!

I heard a chorus of whoops and cheers, lost for a moment I forgot about the small space. Those “men” were strange.

The trip was long and I jumped and rocked all over the place.

The small space suddenly came to a stop and light shone in making me squint, as the back was let down.
