Sorry that this chapter isn't as lengthy as the others, but it's needed. It's needed as a break from the last chapter and a fill-in chapter.
Hope you love the chapter!
Betrayal.
"I knew Ben would do something like this, I just didn't know anyone would believe him on this," Dylan sighed. "Thank you, Emma. I would've known nothing without you."
"If you can get Ben to stop and ensure everyone that they're safe, then I'm happy helping you," Emma told him.
"Follow me," Dylan requested in his deep voice.
Dylan led Emma out of the cockpit. They passed the rows of seats that she had been past many times. Emma sighed and she let out a breath that had been waiting to escape for a long time. They swiftly made it to the cargo hold without any disturbances. But the real tricky part is when they find Ben and his crew.
"When we find them," Emma whispered, "can you do the talking? Some of my friends aren't really happy with me."
"I get it. I do some stuff that my family could never understand. It's a price we all have to pay. But you'll get over it eventually," Dylan told her while they were surrounded by towers of luggage.
They had to trudge through the cargo hold but eventually once they headed to the back of the hold where they found everyone. They were surrounding a light brown crate that was much bigger than average. Emma tried to listen in on their conversation. She tried to piece together words and sounds.
"Drugs... Manny... cocaine... suitcase... sharpie."
While they slowly grew closer with each step the inevitable would soon come. Carson, or Dylan, (whatever his name is!) will have to tell them that she snitched. But soon they'll thank her, and they'll move one from this like they always do.
Emma moved out of the shadow that clung to her and stepped where her friends could see her. They quickly noticed her and stared at her. Omar, her cousin, raised one of his brows.
"Finally, Emma, bout' time you helped us. Although we don't need any help right now, 'cause we hit the jackpot!" Omar told her.
Emma stayed silent and took a step to the side and exposed who was behind her. The pilot stepped up and had a disgusted look on his face.
He turned to Emma and said, "Thank you, Emma."
Emma nodded and looked back at them. Faces of surprise and shock and betrayal. Omar and Paula both looked heartbroken while Candace and Regina looked furious. Ben looked like he expected this. His face shone no ounce of surprise or even hurt. He probably expected this would've happened in the next hour. This hurt Emma the most. The disappointment that he knew would happen struck her deep in the heart.
"Ben, I've told you time after time to stay out of my business," Carson told him in an annoyed tone.
"Oh, yeah, sorry for caring about my drugged friend. Oh, by the way, why is he high? And why is there cocaine on this plane?" Ben asked him mockingly.
Carson froze and his jaw dropped. Quickly he changed his stance and became instantly more confident.
"There isn't any here. You're just fooling yourself. Nothing in here is my own.
Maybe one of the passengers is the one who brought it in," Dylan told him, deflecting the blame from him.
Ben rolled his eyes and reached into his pocket and grabbed the note and receipt he had just read. He held it out while saying, "Oh, dang, okay then. Then why does this receipt have your name on it saying you bought this?"
