"Wake up bitch."

Ah, the familiar voice was always pleasant. "Hi Laura," I smiled. The smile was fake, but the torture behind it was real.

Laura stood above me, a plate with mashed potatoes and gravy in one hand, and an envelope in the other.
My hands were still tied up to the chair. And my feet were as well.
I hardly slept well last night, I didn't have any place to rest my head, and my hands and feet were far too uncomfortable.

"Audrey wants to give you a letter," Laura smirked. "Oh, and after you open it, I'll give you some food. Unless-" Laura bent down to my level. "You smart mouth me like you did yesterday. Then you can forget about the damn food."

"Okay," I sighed. Not because Laura had threatened me, but because of the thought of this letter. What if it says that my family's dead, or that I'm gonna be dead?

Laura left the letter on my lap.
"Oh, and I'm gonna untie you, but if you try anything, I have pepper spray and a gun in my pockets," she said, freeing me from the chair. I hadn't thought about running away, it was hopeless.

I grabbed the letter, and carefully opened it. It was in a pink envelope, and the paper inside was written with a blue pen. I inhaled, and began to read the letter.

"Dear Celia,
I'm Audrey. You may think of me as a stranger, friend, or your stalker. But I'm merely your killer. Well, I hope and wish to be. Because wouldn't it be an honor to be murdered by an Brookeman girl? Or the Brookeman girl's leader? It's every girls dream.
So don't think we're taking away people's lives for nothing. We do it to make those dreams come true.
So here's the deal, (if you don't want to die) take the mash potatoes, eat them, and then Claudia is to take you to the 'box'. Further instructions will await there. Now go.
Sincerely, A.M"

I cleared my throat. "I'm done reading," I said to Laura. She handed me the plate, and I walked out of the room. When the door opened, Claudia was already there waiting for me.
I looked at the emptiness in her eyes. She looked so destroyed. Like somebody broke her.
She looked up at me. "You ready?"
I nodded. "Ready as I'll ever be."
