"I'm taking you home."

NOW

"Home? What?"

"I'm taking you home Celia," Claudia repeated. "Just keep quite. I don't want the girls finding out I let you escape."
I frowned. "Why are you even part of this group if you don't want to be?" I asked. Claudia didn't answer.
"Claudia answer me."
She still didn't respond. We just kept walking straight ahead, not saying a single word.

"EXIT" the door read. This is it. I'm getting out of here. For real.
Claudia smiled to me. I smiled back.
"I'll see you at school," She waved.
School, the girls are going to find me.
"Don't worry, the girls aren't going to school anymore. Neither am I actually..." She said as if reading my mind. I smiled at her for a long time. I always knew Claudia was good.

"I'll see you someday," I waved.
She nodded slowly while biting her lip.
I turned to leave, but my feet wouldn't move another step. My mind was filled with hesitation. I can't leave Claudia here. The girls will find out she helped me escape, she'll die for sure.
I heard Claudia closing the door, I quickly spun around and put my foot between it leaving an open gap. Just enough for her to see my face.
She opened the door back up.
We stood in front of each other. Looking at one another closely. Like trying to figure us out.

"Come with me."

Claudia immediately shook her head.
"No I couldn't-"

"Claudia," I said a bit loud, grasping her wrist. We stayed silent for a moment. My hand still grasping her.
"Come with me..."
Claudia didn't say anything. The silence answered for her. I shook my head. "You have to, you'll get killed here!" I said, meanwhile, Claudia just looked at me with scared eyes. Then looked at the ground. "I have no where to go, if I go back home my parents will call the police and-"
I clasped her mouth. "You can stay at my place, you don't have to go to school, I can tell my mom your a friend."

The idea sounded great, it really did.
But was I really going to do this? Lie to my mom about where I had been and that I didn't almost die? Or had been held in a cell by 4 bitchy girls?
It sounds impossible.
Plus, Claudia is the first real person I communicated with at school, she means something to me. I can't just leave her here to die. I can't leave the other hostages here to die either, but I can't do anything about them. Only Claudia, the girl standing right in front of me. I can save one person tonight. I need to save them.

"Your coming." I pulled hauled Claudia by her wrist, and began pulling her behind me. Walking far away from the prisoner-kept-place.
She stumbled behind me a bit, I could almost feel her hesitation from behind. But I kept pulling her, so there was no way she could go back.
No way she will die from them.

My house looked beautiful sitting upon the small hill. The front door lights were on, and so were my parents bedrooms. I was no longer dragging Claudia. She managed to walk on her own without looking back. My feet feel tired the more I walk towards my house. I can almost imagine my body hit my soft plush bed.
I can also imagine how many questions my parents will ask me when they open the door. My hearts pounding louder and louder. The more closer I to my house. What are the odds that they'll let Claudia stay? What are the odds of them finding out what really happened?

"Are you going to knock?"

I stop my train of thought, and look at Claudia who's giving me a slightly impatient look. I nod, and quickly knock the door. It took about 5 seconds until my mom answered the door, with a scared look on her face.
She was gasping, looking at me with widened eyes. I couldn't help but smile at seeing her beautiful face once again. The face I thought I wasn't going to see ever again. Quickly, I ran into her arms, not caring if it would be awkward for Claudia. I dug my face into her chest, smiling wide. I could feel her chin on my head.
This went on for a minute. Until she saw Claudia.

Claudia and my mom looked at each other, they both looked scared.

"Get out," mom growled out of the blue. I hesitated. What's wrong with her?

"Mom this is Claudia-"

Mom pushed me away, "I know who she is." She took a couple of steps towards Claudia, with a disgusted look on her face.
"Leave."

Soon enough, Claudia went running for the hills.
I turned to mom. I didn't know what to say, how'd she know Claudia.
Wait- if she knows Claudia, she..no. She couldn't know.

Mom turned to me, her chest going up and down faster and faster. Her eyes were looking down, and she was playing with her nails. She's nervous.

"I have something to tell you..."

I shrug. It can't be any worse than what's happened these couple of past days.

"Yeah, what's up?"

She put something in my hand, I looked down at it. That's weird, it kind of like the book of rules, the one that Audrey gave me. Wait- I turn the book around.

"Mom what's-"

"I use to be a Brookeman Girl."
