"It's okay, love. It's okay." Colby comforted Rebecca for a few minutes while mentally devising a plan.
Once she started to calm down in the slightest, Colby brought her to his father's office, where he knew both his parents would be. He sat her down in the chair while his parents shared concerned looks.
"Colby, what's going on?" Holly walked over to the two sitting next to Rebecca and placed a hand on her back.
"Just- stay here with her." He stood up and gave Rebecca's hand a kiss. "I'll be back."
Colby exited the office, closing the door behind him, and his comforting expression went stale. She'd already been through too much, and it infuriated him that Rebecca never seemed to catch a break. "Dye, you're dead!"
Colby stormed through the office, his eyes darting everywhere. Adrenaline pumped through his veins, and he looked in every office department.
He stood in the middle of the hallway, knowing there were stares. He heard the elevator ding from behind him, and something in the air changed. Colby immediately turned around to see the doors opening to reveal Jeff.
"There you are, motherfucker." Colby spat, and Jeff's eyes widened as he backed up.
"Shit." Jeff muttered as he started jamming on the elevator buttons to make a quick escape.
Jeff saw him gaining ground as his head turned from Colby to the buttons he was smashing. "Shit, shit, shit."
The doors started to close a second too late because Colby reached in and grabbed Jeff by his shirt. He tossed him out of the elevator, making Jeff stumble to the ground.
"What the hell are you doing, man?" Jeff started sliding himself further away as Colby moved towards him.
"Get your ass up." Colby spoke lowly, standing at his feet.
Jeff's heart raced, even more, when he saw the look in Colby's eyes. "I don't think you have the right guy."
"I said get your ass up!" Colby's voice boomed throughout the office, and everyone turned their attention to the situation at hand.
Jeff scrambled to his feet, and the moment he stood balanced, Colby punched him straight in the face, causing him to fall right back down.
This time Colby followed him to the floor, digging his knee into his chest. "You think it's fun, huh? You like touching what's not yours?"
He wrapped his hands around Jeff's neck and heard nothing but his gasps for air. Jeff grasped at his arms, trying to move him off, but all of Colby's weight was against him.
"I'm gonna kill you bitch." Colby was unrelenting until he was suddenly pulled off of Jeff.
His head whipped over to see his father death-staring him. "That's enough, Colby."
"Why aren't you with Rebecca?!" He hissed, too blinded by anger to care about his tone.
"Because you're about to cost me a whole lot more money than she is." Ron fought back, gesturing to the situation unfolding.
After being brought out of his rage episode, Colby looked back at Jeff grasping at his already bruising neck. Colby stood straight on his feet and straightened out his suit, pushing his hair back and tying it into a bun.
"That's enough." Ron repeated, not enjoying the stares.
"It'll never be enough." Colby seethed but played it off as well as he could. "But he's lucky I have more important matters to attend to."
He turned to his father, who was shaking his head slowly. "I'm taking Rebecca home, and we're taking the week off."
Colby walked off before his father could inevitably protest. When he made it back to his father's private office, he saw Rebecca in the same spot. His mother was on the phone with who he assumed was the police.
Rebecca's head was in her hands, and when he gently touched her back, she jumped up. He immediately raised his hands in surrender. "It's just me. I'm sorry."
She instantly relaxed and slouched back in the chair, listening when he started to speak again. "Get your things. We're taking a break from this place."
"What? Colby, it's fine- we can't." Rebecca shook her head and crossed her arms.
"We're going." He insisted, grabbing her hands and guiding her onto her feet. "It's already done."
After a lot of convincing, Colby got Rebecca out of the building as quickly as he could. He brought her to his house in hopes that Danielle would continue to be quiet and Rebecca could relax.
Even with the three of them in the house, it was uncharacteristically silent, making Colby feel even more uneasy. Rebecca had been dealing with enough as it was, and every time he reminded himself of that, the closer he got to going through with his idea of finding Jeff and killing him.
He watched Rebecca from the kitchen as she sat down on the couch. "I can feel you staring."
Colby smiled, looking down for a split second. "I'm not staring."
"Yes, you are." A smile almost broke through her blankness, but Colby was disappointed to see it still missing.
"Are you okay?" He walked over to her, placing Danielle in the baby seat swing.
"I'm fine." She nodded, watching him sit next to her. "I've dealt with worse."
"You shouldn't have to." He placed a hand on her thigh, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be." She sighed, "I'm sorry I missed the fight."
"It wasn't much of one." Colby laughed lightly, "I should've taken a picture."
A chill rolled down Rebecca's spine when a flash of Jeff's devilish grin appeared in her mind, and Colby watched her neutral expression dim.
"He won't be there when we get back." Colby wrapped his arms around her. "Trust me."
"I do." Rebecca hugged back, still understandably feeling on edge.
The two hugged for a bit before Rebecca finally felt genuinely safe enough to curl up next to him comfortably. Exhaustion quickly caught up with her, and before they knew it, they were both out like lights.
