"Do you think he poisoned those cupcakes?" asked Klaus the following day after we were given permission to visit Justice Strauss.

"He ate all of them," Violet replied, unaware that I had eaten one as well. "Besides, he after the fortune we'll inherit; killing us will do him no good."

We walked across the street and through the beautiful front yard of Justice Strauss' house.

"What good will it do for us to be part of the Marvelous Marriage?" Klaus questioned further.

Now that he had mentioned it, I remembered how Count Olaf had given my siblings and I roles in his theater troupe's newest production. More specifically, how I was to play his blushing bride.

Will I get to kiss him again? I thought to myself, my cheeks growing warm at the thought and butterfly wings brushing my insides at the thought of how he kissed me yesterday at the piano.

Violet, Klaus, and I all found ourselves diving into various books from the library while Justice Strauss offered to take Sunny into the garden. As I handed my baby sister over, Justice Strauss noticed my cheek.

"Edith," she exclaimed, "what happened to your face?"

I looked at my siblings for help before replying, "We're trying to find out."

Justice Strauss seemed to buy it. "I have a section on rashes. It's right next to Chinese cars."

As we began reading, I couldn't help but recall the previous day and night by the piano. The Count's actions seemed to have left fingerprints on both my body, soul, and my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about the way he held me, caressed me, kissed me.

As I read up on theater with Violet, I imagined the play in my head; me in a white wedding dress costume beside Olaf dressed in a fine costume. He would be able to touch and hold me and excuse it as how the play was written.

I liked it when he touched me.

I could still feel the way he gripped my chin between his index and thumb before connecting our lips. I wondered how it would feel if he were to feel the curve of my waist and hips, to pull me close with his hand spread on my back, to unbutton the front of my dress and...
