One Week Later
"Just try to concentrate." Peter says as I close my eyes and try to create another portal. A week has passed since we stopped Ego. I decided to stay with the Guardians so I could have some more quality time with my brother and get to know the team more.
After a few moments of trying to open up the portal, nothing happens. I open my eyes and let out a sigh. "It's okay. Just try again." Peter says.
"Peter, we've been doing this for over an hour." I say.
"Did you concentrate?" Drax asks.
"Yes, Drax. I'm doing the best I can but nothing seems to be happening." I say with a sigh.
"Maybe she needs a little motivation." Drax suggests.
"I could poke her with this." Rocket says, holding out a sharp object that had sparks coming out of it. I look at Rocket with wide eyes when he points the object at me and start to back away slowly.
"No. No. Rocket, put that down. We are not poking anyone with anything, all right?" Peter says.
"Drax is right. What if there is something that could help her open up a portal?" Gamora says.
"Like what?" I ask.
"Maybe Mantis could use her powers somehow to help her concentrate and open up a portal." Drax says.
"Uh, I don't let anyone inside my head so that's not happening." I say.
"Kaitlyn, when you first opened that portal, what were you doing? What was happening?" Peter asks me.
"I was talking to my friend Will. I was telling him about finding you and how even though you weren't with me, I could still feel you. Then this bright light appeared in my closet and that's how I got into space and met all of you guys." I say.
"Okay, how about this. Try thinking of somewhere you want to go and once you've chosen a place, maybe that will open up a portal." Peter says.
"Okay." I say.
"You can do it, Kaitlyn." Gamora says.
"We believe in you." Drax says.
"Don't mess this up." Rocket says.
"Don't forget to concentrate." Mantis says.
"I am Groot." Groot says.
"Guys." I say, turning around to face them. They stop talking and I turn back around. I close my eyes and tried to think of a place I wanted to go to. After a few moments, a small portal opens up. I open my eyes and smile when I see the portal. "Guys, I did it!"
"That's great!" Peter says.
I walk up to the portal and when I step through it, the portal closes and it opens up again in another part of the ship. I step out and groan when I wasn't at the place I thought of. "Come on!" I exclaim.
